  • Great light weight anchor
I used this for my paddleboard and it did its job. Its light weight so easy to carry but it hold great. I love the size since it makes storage great. The quality is great so far, Ive used it every day for a week and its still doing its job.

  • Great Option for the Price
The media could not be loaded. For the price, you just can't beat this one. Let's start with the bag. It's made of a water-resistant layer of nylon both inside and out with a padded layer between so that other items are protected from the metal anchor within. The bag dries quickly. The cinching rope is poly as well and comes with a toggle stopper that seems to have a stainless or otherwise corrosion resistant spring in it. I say this because the bag was dropped into salt water several times during my last outing and there's no rust. One last thing, there's a picture of what's inside the bag as well on the outside of the bag (see picture). The bag is overall five stars. I've anchored my Yamaha FX Cruiser twice with this on a choppy shoreline with mixed sand and shell bottom. No chips or even scratches on the bright red anchor paint. The anchor is locked open and shut by using the "locking" collar. I added a video for that. Note that the locking collar doesn't really lock, and over time in could rotate and unlock the anchor flukes, but I've been anchored for several hours at a time and did NOT experience this. This is the tradeoff for compactness, and this anchor is exactly that! The rope is rather slick, being poly, buy fairly well made with the ends melted; bi-color (black/red) for enhanced visibility. I did retie the attachment to the anchor using an anchor hitch with the terminal end bound to the leader line with a tie wrap. Be sure to bind the loose end as stated because this rope is very slick and might easily slip with an anchor hitch. The scope of the rope at 25' is adequate and the anchor has held in soft sand and mixed sand/shell in relatively shallow water (6 feet) with a current and stiff breeze blowing. This I rate as very good considering I am not using an anchor chain (which could be a further enhancement to this product). There is, however, a modification I would make to this assembly. I removed a star for the reasons stated in the following: First, I would replace the metal clip that comes with the anchor with a different system. First the clip is magnetic, so I suspect it is not stainless. I did not, however, verify this by taking it into the salt water, and in addition, I don't like clamping metal objects directly to the front of the Waverunner because the wave action will cause whatever metal is clamped there to scratch and mar the gelcoat. So instead I replaced it with an inexpensive 304 stainless D ring and Quick Link. A stainless snap link will do as well. Attach the D-ring or link to the rope using a halyard hitch or similar knot. Then you can loop the rope through the front attachment point of the waverunner and attach the link/clip in front of the marker buoy. I show this in a subsequent picture. You can then slide the marker buoy to conveniently adjust the scope of the anchor line. The downside is that this does submerge the buoy to some degree, but IMO the marker buoy is relatively worthless otherwise, unless you are hitching and unhitching the watercraft and leaving the buoy in place for when you return. Overall a great purchase for the price, made even greater with a few minor modifications. ... show more

  • What a buy!
This is absolutely the best anchor I have ever seen, especially for the price. I have not yet put it to use, but I am thorougly impressed with the design. I would not use it for a boat displacing over 500 lbs, nor as a storm anchor. However, unless you are an expedition adventurer, you will not be anchoring a kayak, canoe, paddle board, open water rowing shell, or small sailboat in a storm anyway. I have experience with all the above craft. Plus I operate an offshore power boat, and I served as aircrew on an amphibious helicopter, which carried an anchor. hats off to the team that designed and built this anchor. ... show more

  • Not for sandbars or beaches, probably great for rivers with rocky bottoms
So the anchor is compact and feels solid for smaller vessels. I purchased for my seadoo because of its compact size. I mostly use for sandbars which is probably the problem. I can see how this would be effective in rocky bottoms but it does not hold my seadoo effective enough that I can leave its side. Would recommend for non sandy locations but avoid if sandbars/beaches are your primary use. ... show more
