This Extra Virgin Olive Oil has a very pungent and peppery taste. There was no specific information about the amount of the polyphenols in it and the bottle is so dark that you can't see how much is left. I didn't like the way it poured out of the bottle. That was unusual.

    • INCREDIBLE olive oil !
Several years ago when I was living in bustling New York City with a house full of international people, one of my Italian roommates had returned from Italy with olive oil he smuggled over in a plastic water bottle. The flavor was divine, unlike any olive oil I’d had before. Since then I’ve been on the hunt for ‘the real olive oil’— buying from specialty olive oil stores, Italian delis, etc. with no luck. UNTIL NOW.. I opened the bottle, inhaled the aroma and it took me back to this tiny rickety kitchen in my house in Queens, sharing warm bread and discussing light heartedly topics in travel and politics…. What I’m getting at is, this is the REAL stuff here. The oil holds a dynamic flavor starting with a fresh and mesmerizing aroma and finishing with a peppery taste. I can’t explain how much joy finding this olive oil has brought me. It’s been a hit at dinner parties and a lot of my friends are having that same “oh wow”, moment I had all those years ago. Never ordered this olive oil before. Usually, I order the Gran Cru from Galantino, but could not find it on Amazon at the time -- so I gave this one a try, since it had a similar price. However, for the price point, it was disappointing in flavor. Detected a bitter aftertaste and no real variation on the palate, but the bland bitterness. Was this product fresh? Don't know. Offered the oil, drizzled on french baguette, to 5 friends. They agreed with me about the taste. Being Italian I use Olive Oil ever day, so I consider myself a bit of an Olive Oil snob. This is by far the best tasting olive oil I've come across. I drizzle it on avocados and salads so that I can experience the delicate flavor. It also comes in amazing packaging making it perfect for gift giving. Don't let the price scare you away. To me, olive oil is essential whenever I cook or have friends come over home. This product did not only was shipped on time, it also comes in an elegant presentation that amazed me. If just the presentation was great, wait to try it. As soon as you open the bottle, the smell of fresh olive will bring a magic environment to your kitchen. Comes in great packaging with a load of information on the product, the region where it was grown and processed, and the history of the estate. I made a simple pasta with cherry tomatoes and garlic and added this as a finishing oil. I also bought a nice loaf of Italian bread and finished it with this oil and a bit of flaky salt. The taste is not what I expected! It’s not harsh at all, and the peppery notes are subdued, having a more sweet and aromatic flavor. It’s almost buttery. ... show more
