The saw allows me to cut aluminum extrusions with great results - very clean ends with now burs like the power saw I tried. Just be careful - since the box is aluminum the saw can cut it as well. I was slightly off-angle and cut the box as well without realizing it.

This is probably a great little miter box for some projects. I needed to cut 45 degree angles on quarter round trim. I have a saw that is for "super fine" cuts, so it is obviously small and precise. The slots are not even wide enough for that. Just be aware of that. I do want to say that I have read some of the other "bad" reviews and I don't agree with them all. The miter box is functional enough despite being crudely manufactured. The saw however, is practically useless. It is so coarse and dull it just chatters across the plastic styrene that I work with. I have to switch to my old Xacto razor saw but it is the shorter design so I always have to go back to the POS Excel saw to finish the cut. Now, I’m having to spend money for a deep cut saw. If I could do it again, I would buy one of the many similar miter boxes that sell for 8 or 9 bucks and then buy a better quality saw from Zona or Xacto. The lack of quality of this miter box set along with a horrible set of Excel tweezers, have put me off of all Excel products for good. ... show more

I did not pay close enough attention when I ordered this—this is a TINY mitre box for use with an exacto knife, for crafts. This is NOT for use with a regular sized wood or hack saw. If you are purchasing it for its intended purpose (crafts), it is well made and very handy! It is 1 5/8 inches wide by 5 1/8 inch long. It has grooves for cutting 45 and 90 degree angles. It does not have a groove for cutting 22.5 degree angles. I do recommend this well-made mitre box for very tiny work in hobbies and crafts. But you could do just as well (or better) with a regular $10 plastic mitre box (which also comes with a saw) that you can purchase at your local home improvement store with the initials HD. I write honest reviews to help others make informed purchases because I read reviews myself and appreciate how helpful they can be. I hope that my review helped you! ... show more

I didn't realize how small it was. And the saw didn't come with it. I finally found one small enough to use with it in my tool room. I'll find a use for it since it's sturdy.

Very nice item, it really works. The only cons is the the blade is a bit short. Sometimes the blade keeps coming out the aluminum box when cutting.
