This magnet works very well. Was not the cheapest on the market but does have a very strong magnet and picks up metal chips even through other debris. Did not even need a hook to store is. Clamps to every thing and with a short pull the mag releases the stick.

This works very well. I used it once and threw the box away: I will not be sending this back. Some complain that it sticks to their metal machines...um, yeah. Some complain that it causes the metal to stick to the machine...yes, magnets induce eddy currents or whatever in surrounding steel. The effect is temporary and part of life. It doesn't keep it from working *very* well. This picked up the chips out of my milling table beautifully. It's quite powerful yet releases cleanly. It's very easy to dump the chips by pulling the magnet by the plunger. I did think the price was too high and, despite working very well, the materials aren't in this to justify the price. Absolutely fantastic. Powerful magnet. Works amazingly well. I was doing a bunch of angle grinding friction cutting and the ground around my work area was covered with metal shards and fine metal dust. This tools worked like a dream. It works good at attracting ferrous metal (iron,steel). So that includes mills, lathe, etc. in addition to the swath. It gets most out of the ways and beds, but not all. The magnet has plenty of power and the dump is mostly good, but you have to keep the surface of the tube free of oils to work best.
