Description

Install the oil catch can with breather filter for pre-PCV cars as a vent system or without breather filter in line between PCV hoses as a seal can. The oil catch can without breather filter. The baffle is disassembled in a rotary manner. Separates oil particles from PCV/CCV air to prevent intake valve gunk accumulation, keep engine clean. The top is designed with a 1/16 vent hole for ventilation.The coolant overflow tank as a storage container regulates the pressure generated by the heat of the engine. Tight closed cap, fully TIG welded and thread come with O-ring gasket. Bottom port is radiator overflow,the top port is the tank overflow. I’ve had this on my drag truck for 2 years now, and it works great. The only very minor complaint I have is the drain petcock little handle stripped and would just free spin. That could’ve been due to over tightening with my hand, or just a cheap drain valve. The catch can itself is great and I won’t knock the cheap little drain. If you are concerned with that becoming an issue, or want to prevent it from happening I have a very simple solution. The bottom hole of the catch can is 3/8 NPT. I got a 3/8 NPT to 1/4 NPT bushing and a mini 1/4 NPT quarter turn ball valve for a compressor drain that is male on one end and female on the other. Your local store might have one with the compressor accessories, or you can just get one on Amazon cheap. You can leave it like that, or put a 1/4 NPT to hose barb and control where it drains. it's difficult in some applications to get the orientation correct because of the fixed mounting tabs. Would be better if it had a clamp to allow rotation. Other than that, this is a great piece.

There are no real baffles inside this. I am using this for a Diesel crankcase application. Any blowby goes through and sticks to the air filter on top then runs down the outside. I have spots on my driveway and the tank/filter area is wet with oil. When I drained the tank I only had 5 drops or so in the tank. So most of the oil vapor is just blowing out the filter and not getting caught in the tank. My diesel is fairly new, (50K miles) so there is not much blowby. I can imagine if you put this on a high performance application you would have oil everywhere. Since I already mounted the tank under my truck I am going to try and rig up my own baffling. UPDATE- Here is what I did to hopefully fix the problem (see pic's). I bought a 3/4 NPT sintered filter/muffler from amazon. Used a 1" copper pipe coupler and a 3/4 NPT to 3/4 pipe adapter. Also bought some stainless steel scrubbers. I soldered the copper pieces together, stuffed them with the SS mesh/scrubber and screwed the sintered filter on top. I drilled and pinned the copper pipe to the Aluminum can with some black Silicone. Hopefully this catches the oil mist before it hits the air filter. UPDATE again - Fix's delayed dripping on driveway but still an oily mess. You need to clean this in gas every 2K miles or so. Ended up going to a Radcor CCV6000. Expensive but designed for Diesels ... show more
