This headgear is truly a bang for your buck! Let me first start with the headgear itself. The cushion and protection it offers if top-notch. The two areas on either side of the jaw/cheek offer very good protection. However, that's not to say that you don't feel the hits, because you do. I sparred several times with this headgear and it allows for both you and your partner to get a good workout/sparring session in. That's the best part about this headgear, you feel it, and thus you kind of get a little bit of what it's like to hit (obviously nothing like the real thing) while still protecting the integrity of your face! It offers sufficient protection and allows you to practice hard as well, the perfect combination! In addition, the straps on this headgear is very well made. You can adjust them as much as you need, which allows for a comfortable fit, and it limits the amount the headgear moves/wiggles when you get hit. Now to the price. I mean, you really can't beat the price. For about $25 per headgear, you get a high-quality piece of equipment that will certainly last you. This is a win-win! ... show more

This is my first head gear that I purchased for boxing. This a great product for the price. There are a few things that I noticed while wearing it. I'll break it down into pros and cons. Pros: 1. You can see very well during sparring 2. It protects most of your face from cuts and/or bruises 3. Chin Strap is pretty durable 4. Does not feel cheap whatsoever. Cons: 1.) It gets a little sweaty after heavy use (absorbs the sweat too much) 2.) Limitations on adjustments 3.) Ear holes are a little too tight, but manageable. I'm actually on this page to buy my second one of these as I just lost the first and am mid camp. I can't say this enough, but, I HATE wearing headgear. Whether for grappling or striking, I can't stand the claustrophobic vibe they give. When I first started doing Muay Thai smokers, I needed them for comp and so I bought a very high end $120 model that was amazingly sturdy and snug, etc. but I could not breathe right in it. I can breathe in this, and have about as good of a peripheral vision as one could hope with headgear on. I generally compete at 205lbs but am really a middleweight, but with that said, I've gotten lit up by some 205lb pro's wearing this, and I can say it at least does a good enough job to keep my nose/jaw in place, and keep me off the floor. ... show more

I've been training BJJ for about 16 months and kickboxing for a bit under a year now. Sometime during my semester at college I injured my head pretty good and developed a pretty nasty bump on my head, a unicorn horn what some of my training buddies said. After about eight weeks or so of no sparring I decided to order this baby to see if i could ease my way back in despite having a fairly nice obtrusion in the middle of my skull Luckily this is a great helmet for me. It fits snug around my big head and the padding is pleniful. Which is a good thing on account of how often i get hit in the face :) ... show more

Have used this with bare knuckles and gloves. It pads very well and you still have periphery vision. This can be used in most competition events whereas many others can't be. The others that are greatly limit vision and give the same and sometimes alot less protection. Thank goodness its so affordable . that is a huge factor. ... show more

bought this for son who used it for martial arts camp over the summer. there wasn't heavy contact but this was a precautionary piece of equipment in case contact was made with his head as he started sparring with light contact. adjustable and good padding for all around except for the very top of the head. ... show more

First this is a great headgear for its price. Be aware that you will still feel the punches, but they won’t hurt as hard but I do recommend you use a mouth guard with this product just to be safe that you don’t hurt yourself.
