Description

Whether you play rock, blues, country or metal, the Evans EMAD2 Clear Bass Drum Head is a true working drummer’s choice. Named for the externally mounted adjustable damping, the versatile system caters to all bass drum tones by allowing each player to control the attack and focus of the drum head by choosing one of two removable foam damping rings. Choosing the thinner foam ring allows for punch and focus without sacrificing resonance, while choosing the wider foam ring maximizes the low end and attack of any bass drum. The 20” drum head has an outer ply of 6.5mil and an inner ply of 10mil film for added durability. Enhanced with revolutionary Level 360 technology, the clear bass drum head is easier to tune, with a wider tonal range than ever before. Applying the new Level 360 collar shape to the EMAD2 bass drum head allows it to seat itself properly and in turn provides a head that is easy to tune and a sound that is studio ready. Evans EMAD2 clear bass drum heads are available in sizes 18” to 26” with multiple thickness and coating options. For over 60 years, Evans Drumheads has been a pioneer in drum head manufacturing and design. Now part of D’Addario & Company, Inc., Evans products are proudly made in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in the USA to the most stringent quality controls in the industry. • Superb Sound and Versatility: Evans EMAD 2 Bass Drum Head Review
Size: 22-inch
The Evans EMAD 2 Bass Drum Head is superb. It's easy to tune, highly durable, and versatile, especially for Spanish Christian music. It delivers a very good punchy sound with excellent tone and feel. Additionally, it offers great value for money, making it a smart investment for any drummer.

  • Went from "thud" to a couple of octaves lower KABOOM!!! And CHEAPER!!!
Size: 20-inch
Profile: Very experienced player, now a very old man...sorta. Been doing this a while. Used on: DW Performance Series (cause I liked it), HVX Maple, Oil Stain. 16x20 Bass Drum. Rogers new generation Swiv-O-Matic pedal, combo Felt/Acrylic beater. OK, Swapped out the stock DW by Remo head as...well..it just wasn't cutting it; such a let down. Had used EMAD2 on the Yamahas I sold and the difference was sooo...WHOA!!! So...Stupid incredible AWESOME GREATNESS!!! Went from "thud" to a couple of octives lower KABOOM. This is without a doubt the best STRIKE SIDE bass drum (kick) head out there, and that was without messing with the heavier dampening ring, even took the impact side DW pillow out. I was tempted to try the GMAD but went with a tried and true. So glad I did and you can CHOOSE your POW! The other payback I didn't see in the reviews I read was the FEEL. Yes, it tunes right up, but, BUT that, THAT...FEEL!!! Using the new--returned to production--Rogers Swiv-O-Matic pedal and I can get wappity-wappity triplets noooo problem. What a great piece of work! I Wish all drum products made such a stand out difference. **Stop shopping and just buy it! ** UPDATE06/2022. The EMAD2 is my go to bass drum head. The swap-able foam inserts are a game changer. Recently bought the NEW EMAD2 HEAVYWEIGHT to use for a 24” Gong drum (14”/24” bass drum) and it’s a jaw dropper. This is most likely THE best drum head for it’s category of a good solid thud. ... show more

  • Phat Funky Sound
Size: 22-inch
I am a Remo guy for sure but I find myself coming back to this head a lot recently. I use a variety of kick drums, mainly Gretsch & Ayotte. I had been using Power Stroke 3's because of their attack. What I want more than that is a warm, huge funky tone with good feel. The EMAD keeps doing that. I like them so much I have switched over all my kicks to them. On a 20" X 16" or 18" the drum sounds much bigger than it is. On stage it is wonderful. At home practicing it gives me back the sound I want which is rounder and deeper than the PS 3. These heads are durable as well so you won't be compromising durability. Hope this helps you guys & gals... ... show more

  • Exactly What I Needed
Size: 22-inch
This particular Evans bass drum head is a sweet spot between too much ring and not enough body. I watched a video on the various Evans option, selected this, and have been very pleased. Check out their videos, since there are multiple varieties of everything today. I use Evans heads on all my drums. When combined with proper tuning, they're great at providing a sound quality to match your style and acoustic environment. ... show more

  • convenient

This is a nice little make up mirror for the bathroom. The magnification side is really effective and lighting works well on this. I like that it is rechargeable. Would definitely re-order if needed.

  • Finally, the kick sound I was looking for
Size: 22-inch
I play on a church band, playing mostly Hillsong/Passion music. I've been toying around with different heads and dampening methods for my kit, but the kick drum by far has been the most difficult to tinker with. With traditional heads, I tried several schemes with commercial dampening gear and also by taping things (a small towel, foam, even diapers) to the inside of my kick batter head -- which sort of did the trick, but the sound was still lacking. If I started pounding on the kick, it sounded too "rubbery" or "boing-y", which was a shame given the decent shells I have. Putting a pillow inside and mic-ing the drum was an option I did not like--the pillow choked the sound too much and the kick did not sound lively. Sure you can add all the enhancement you want with a mic, but sitting behind the drums the kick seemed underpowered compared to the rest of the kit. The sound tech may like the pillow/mic option, but hey, it's gotta sound good to the guy playing the drums. Then I tried the EMAD2 -- boy, I should have done it years ago. My kick now has the sound I've been trying to make. It's got a nicely defined, punchy "thud" to it with a short, controlled sustain while not losing the volume you'd expect from a 22-inch barrel. All this in a neat package that requires no additional dampening. It's an added bonus to be able to see the uncluttered insides of the kick drum. The kit sounds much more balanced now, and it's a joy to hear the kick again and again. The bass player on the band used to complain that my kick sounded too mushy and was difficult to hear over the mix, but he noticed the improvements right away. If you can, go give it a try at a local music store -- I'm pretty sure a decent store has a kit or two on display with this head on it (the choice of heads & tuning make a far greater difference in the overall sound than the material of the shells). You can compare it with other bass drums as well... ... show more
