The carafe is a breeze to use daily and cleans up quick and easy. The reason for the 4 stars instead of five is I hoping that it would keep the coffee hotter for a longer period of time. The coffee stays hot for a little over 3 hours even though I put boiling water in the carafe while my coffee is brewing to warm up the carafe. I'm a sucker for beautiful design and this is a beautifully designed object in every sense of the word. It's not only aesthetically pleasing, it is a pleasure to use and it pours just as cleanly as it claims. It seems to be average in its ability to keep my coffee warm, which is all I was expecting and more than adequate for my needs. I love using it when serving company. This was a really pricy thermos and I'm not thrilled with it. It is decent looking, easy to pour and keeps coffee warm for hours. I drink my coffee black and am pretty particular (fresh beans, fresh grind). When I use the matching cone, the coffee is slightly bitter / metallic. When I brew in the same method with a Chemex, the flavor is cleaner / less metallic (but then the coffee gets cold quickly). Bought this as a gift for my mom. It's hard for her to get around & having cold water nearby has been very helpful! I appreciate it's wide base (more sturdy) & glass thermos interior (no plastic transfer). Yet it's light enough for her to manage :) Worth the high price!
