I absolutely love the Essie Gel Couture top coats. Best I've used. Top reason: they dry instantly. I mean, aren't we all so over sitting and waiting for our nails to dry so we can get on with life? Seriously, this is a game changer for at home manicures. As a top coat, it does its job protecting the polish beneath. I do 1-2 coats and am usually good for 5 days or so. If I haven't started chipping by then, I'll add another coat to see if I can get a few more days. I also love using these over the nail stickers. With those, I add weeks to the life of the set. Weeks. I always keep both the matte and clear on hand at home. The matte top coat is something I didn't know I needed in my life. I feel like nails are expected to be super shiny. For years I've been on the hunt for a fingernail polish that lasts, helping me to curb my annoying habit of chewing my nails. I tried many different brands and even purchased professional nail kits to use at home. They all either damaged my nails or chipped too quickly (including the "regular" Essie polish) making them break. But this long-lasting Essie polish, combined with the top coat, finally answers my needs. As usual, the polish chips a little quicker on my right hand since it gets more use, but overall this polish lasts maybe 10 days and is easy to remove. This picture shows one coat of Of Corset + one coat of the matte top coat. It offers a natural-looking nail and I'm a huge fan of the matte top coat. Solid top coat, and lately it’s been my go-to since I’m digging the matte effect. Good: - Essie always has great applicator brushes so it goes on smoothly. - It lasts at least a week without chipping. I change my polish every week so can’t speak to longer, but I’m happy with the durability. Meh: - It could be more matte. The pic is immediately after applying and it’s pretty good, but could it be even more matte? Heck yeah. - Matte effect could last longer. After a few days natural body oils and rubbing of nails against clothes, etc, start to make it shinier. It’s fairly shiny by the end of the week. Overall solid, as I expect from Essie. ... show more

These are my natural nails and I use the Essie gel couture system for my natural nails. This is the Matt coat and it is adorable. I have used it on my toes now you can see my nails. It’s great highly recommend.

Giving it 3 stars because after a week my nails still haven’t chipped so kudos to that, however it’s not very matte. It was matte for the first two days but after that it just turned to a dull shine that looks pretty crappy.

Was pleased with the consistency and ease of applying. Liked that it was somewhat opaque and not blindingly shiny. My complete manicure lasted 1 1/2 weeks before reapplying. Glad I decided to try it, and now it’s included in my routine.
