This is my first esab product. After reading reviews I figured I could go wrong. Well, you can't. I just got it today and I burns 7018s perfectly on 1/2 plate. Runs 6011s nice too. Runs hot on 220, haven't used it on 110. Flawless arc and extremely consistent results. For $200, you just simply cannot go wrong. I've had $800+ machines that don't burn rod as well. I would have to say esab just got a future customer. As one reviewer said, "if your on the fence, get it". ... show more

    • Impressive little machine. Welds a little hot on 240V
This is one of the smallest welders I have ever seen. I am amazed at the performance. It burns rods like a champ. I see no reason to buy any other stick welder. It welded 3/4" thick steel [multiple passes of course] with relative ease. It has a fairly high duty cycle for such a small package. Purchase adapters to run longer leads and it can be a wonderful addition to any shop. It has manual adjustment of "amperage" written only in the thickness of the rod you're welding with. It seems to run a bit hot on 240v, so just dial it down a bit and it is wonderful. ... show more

    • Exactly what I needed…
I discovered the ESAB HandyArc 1/8 stick welder as part of my research on Tig welders. While it wasn’t what I was looking for, I was intrigued that ESAB had a low priced stick welder that was significantly smaller than any that I have seen before. It also operated using a different paradigm for weld settings based on the electrode diameter that seemed very user friendly, plus it could be used at 120 or 240 power. I was very impressed by the size of the power cord for this welder as it is thicker than my expensive mig and plasma-cutter power cords. I was disappointed in the short lengths of the ground and electrode cords; however, once I started welding the length wasn’t a problem just a slight irritation to work around. What I liked most about thus welder is how well built it is and how I can carry it where I need to work. While I can appreciate how extremely easy it is to set and use, I did miss having the ability to see what amps I was using to further tweak the settings. Other than that, I really enjoyed using this welder as it is a far better and more powerful machine than the size and price would indicate. The overall quality is what I expect from an ESAB welder and I am glad I bought it. It should appeal to folks just getting started with welding as it is cost effective and a very easy welder to use. ... show more

Wow, So far it has impressed me. Burns rods like a champ. I burned some 3/32 6013 and some 1/8" 7018 and it did it with ease. I can't speak on the longevity of it since I've only used it for a short time, so I would just buy a protection plan to save my butt. The things that I would invest in are longer leads because they are super short. ... show more
