  • Cannot lift an LG 5K 27" monitor
Color: White
I just bought an awesome standing table and 13" version of the LX Desk Mount LCD Monitor ARM. I mounted my LG 5K 27" monitor only to find that the height adjustment immediately falls all the way down - in other words the 7-25 lbs monitor arm cannot lift an 14.1 lbs monitor? Moving the monitor around works fine, but when I adjust the height of the monitor, it immediately drops almost all the way down again. I can manually adjust the height on the pole connected to the desk, but the whole idea of buying this was to adjust the height of the monitor when I raise the desk and stand up. I am very disappointed given this is a key functionality that does not work and I cannot see anything in the instructions that allows me to fix this. The only reference is that the instruction says this issue might happen with monitors over 20 lbs, which mine is certainly not. ... show more

  • Very disappointing
Color: Silver
I was very excited about this purchase having read all the reviews, but after receiving it and setting it up I regret to say that this is one of the worst purchases I have ever made on Amazon. Here are the various reasons why: (1) This product is the same exact thing as the AmazonBasics product (https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Premium-Single-Monitor-Stand/dp/B00MIBN16O/), perhaps with just minor differences as to the color, coating, and logo branding -- and yet the AmazonBasics product is much less expensive. One of the reviews I saw for the AmazonBasics product revealed that its manufacturer is indeed Ergotron. These days it appears that many products available on Amazon under different brand names are in fact duplicates of one another. (2) As with many reviewers for the AmazonBasics product (though curiously no reviewers for this Ergotron product reported this), my monitor plate arrived stuck facing the ceiling. I tried adjusting the relevant screw from loose to tight to loose over and over again, and right when I was about to give up (after spending around an hour tinkering with it), the plate finally started to move after applying a lot of strength. And the amount of strength necessary to move it was not affected at all by the loose or tight setting of the screw. Perhaps this item was defective, but many, many reviewers for the AmazonBasics product reported this as well. At the end of the day, I was not happy about this, but at least in the end I did manage to get it down to the position I wanted (i.e., just facing straight forward), and I did not intend in any case to adjust it on a regular basis, so I was willing to accept this issue. (3) If you use the middle extender part of the arm, then the monitor really comes very far forward. For this reason, I decided -- as the instructions indicate is an option -- to just attach the monitor plate arm directly to the base pole. If you do this, however, the size of the hole on the monitor plate arm is slightly bigger than the base pole. As a result, the monitor is very wobbly. (This wobble does not exist if you use the extension arm, becuase the holes there are more appropriately sized.) You can tighten the tiny screw on the monitor plate arm to stabilize things, but all it really does is create a mark on the base pole, such that it's held there by friction. It's not really a secure way of holding a monitor. (4) The main reason why I purchased a computer arm in the first place was so I can adjust it upwards and downwards. This arm does not have a good mechanism to do that. All it is is a pole with, again, another very small screw that you can tighten into the solid base pole, thereby creating marks in it and having all the weight supported by friction. I do not find this secure at all, and I am afraid that the monitor would just slide down and fall at some point. There should be, for example, small holes on the base pole for the screw to fit into. That would be far more secure. (5) The instruction manual -- just stapled pieces of paper -- is extremely poor and not clear at all. On the whole, the product does look like the picture, and it does do what it's supposed to do. It's just that many of the mechanics, as described above, are poorly designed. And I do not at all feel that my (expensive) monitor is secure when being supported by this arm. It is for these reasons that I am returning this product. ... show more

  • How do people even live without one of these?
Color: Silver
So apparently Amazon basics has a subcontracted arm made by ergotron with slightly different dimensions, weight support, color, and a shorter warranty, but hey, if you are going to go all out, you might as well go for the original name brand, yeah? I got this for my Huion Kamvas 22 (2019) Super simple to assemble and adjust. Quality materials. Looks clean. Great range of motion. Offers a great amount of resistance when drawing on it. The mounting thumb screws are a godsend for quick change and installation. The included tools to allen down your setup are fantastic. The taller pole gives more options for height and adjustment. The nubs that hold the included zipties for cable management could probably benefit from being slotted, as the zipties tend to slide off the pegs when moved frequently. The base arm cable management slot is nifty and gives a cleaner look. Perhaps in future designs, they might add a slotting similar on the main part of the arm! The adjustability is great, however i wish there was an indicator for letting you know when you were getting towards max tension so you could back it off a quarter turn. I love that you can buy extension arms for this, and I am going to be buying one soon so I can move my control arm off to the side of my desk instead of the front left. ... show more

  • Works with the XP-PEN Artist24 Drawing Monitor
Color: Silver
I love this Ergotron arm! I wish I had purchased the longer one because I sit quite far away from my desk and it just barely reaches, but I would prefer it stretch farther. I do not like that I had to mount it on the side of my desk and have the monitor swivel to behind the mount. I feel like this causes the vertical column to bend slightly and it does not stay flush with my desk unless the monitor is facing the desk. This is probably because I did not plan well enough. Going forward, I think I would prefer to purchase the wall mount that is longer. If you are looking for one that works with the XP-PEN Artist24, I highly recommend this because it will support the weight plus your arm's weight when you rest it against the drawing surface or push the buttons. I have had to tighten the joints more frequently than I'd like, but it works exceptionally well. Very durable. I have no worries that it will drop my monitor. ... show more

  • Well-built, holds heavy widescreen
Color: Silver
I've had 3 different monitor arms now for my work/personal screen setup. First 3x Dell U2415 on a horizontal only 3 screen mount. Then 1x U2415 and a U3415W on a 2 screen horizontal only mount. Now due to some neck and back strain that I am trying to alleviate, I've moved the U3415W to this Ergotron. It assembled easily. I opted for the 13" over the 8" pole, to maximize available height. And it's good that I did, since my widescreen is now only just slightly above eye level with my preferred chair and arm position. I figured this would wobble quite a bit -- but was pleasantly surprised that it doesn't as much as I thought. And, like I saw somewhere on the product page, it does hold my 35 lbs widescreen, after tensioning the raise arm appropriately. My only complaint is that that 13" pole version is a whopping $60 more than the 8". ... show more
