We grow a lot of blackberries in our backyard so Iโve been experimenting with jam and blackberry ice cream. This mill has been fantastic in prepping the blackberries. I use the middle sized plate. It lets some of the seeds through but if you use the smaller one (or use a sieve) too much of the blackberry skin (and therefore the FLAVOR) is strained out. The first batch of jam I made with the middle plate and it was amazing. The second batch I used the smallest hole plate and the jam just tasted like sugar. So if you want to make jam and donโt mind a few seeds (and honestly I donโt notice them in the jam) use the middle sized plate. You will not regret it.

I made a big batch of blackberry jam with blackberries my husband grew and it got every single seed out of the jam mixture after I cooked the berries down. Works wonderfully. Itโs very sturdy and well made.
