When I have something that needs assembly I often have a family member that helps me. I am in my 70s and don't have the strength or dexterity that I used to have and this time, my grandson helped me. Assembly went smoothly but it turned out we completely missed one step. I don't think it has caused any problems since this is a solidly made item. The various parts, like the frame, desktop, motor, etc. all went together fast and easily. Pre-drilled holes were exactly where they should be and matched up with whatever was being attached. I do have hearing loss, so whether or not the motor is noisy, I can't address it. To me, it is very quiet, and smooth operating up/down and stops quickly when you release the button. Since I am still re-arranging my computer room, I haven't tried to set the user stops for specific heights. The only negative I have is the pullout keyboard/mouse tray. My keyboard had its own wristrest that didn't allow it to fit because of the wristrest that came with the pullout. I had to remove the much more comfortable keyboard wristrest and don't like the small, thin, wristrest that came with this desk. I freely give this 5 stars for quality, workmanship, and design that make this a very usable desk. ... show more

    • Sturdy as a Boulder - One Beast of a Desk

Sitting is the new smoking, as they say. And I work from home. So I figured I'd bite the bullet, open the beat-up wallet, and get a desk that I could stand or sit at. Well this beast rises and lowers smoothly. And I have a laptop and 2 monitors on it, plus a bunch of junk - so quite a bit of weight. And it doesn't shake or wobble. I got the light brown mottled one, which is quite a beauty but... mine came with a dent in it, which I only found after spending hours putting it together - before I pulled out a piece of wood that was damaged. Just my luck, it couldn't have been the first piece of course. Arggg. But Amazon took care of it. So it's all groovy. I don't know for sure but I suspect the damage occurred during the shipping because the manufacturer packaged this thing quite impressively. Putting the desk together took hours, though. I think in all it was around five. That was aggravating to be honest. But I would do it all over again because this is one sweet desk. And working from home day after day, trust me, I've tried this baby out for going on 3 months now without a hiccup. I can only imagine the price they'd be asking for something like this if it were pre-built. Still put a good show on the Telly because if you're anything like me, you're going to be at it for quite some time. ... show more

The desk is exactly what I was looking for. It wasn't hard to assemble. It took me maybe 75-90 minutes to put it together. The instructions are slightly better than most instructions. The adjustment goes high enough for me and I'm 6ft tall. I do like the programmable height buttons. I was surprised the wood surface of the desk came in two pieces rather than one but they fit together just fine. This desk is a really good value for the price. ... show more

Assemble time was about 60 minutes for me, and I’m literally the least handy human alive. For once, the assembly directions for furniture were actually well done and simple to follow.
