I have bought these scissors over and again because they do work well for split end trimming and bangs. The last pair I got I didn’t notice arrived where it didn’t align correctly. Did not realize till I was packing them for a trip and they somehow cut the shish outta my finger right before a trip. Inspected then and noticed that the two blades didn’t line up so the sharp sides are slightly exposed. I’ve kept using them cuz I didn’t think this misalignment would’ve hampered the scissors ability to cut but lo and behold it’s ripping my hair at certain angles and making MORE splits. Plus I just shaved off a slice of finger when I accidentally grabbed them wrong -_- Great red is that they’re so sharp I didn’t notice till my finger started itching and saw that I got blood on my shirt from the exposed blade. These barbershop scissors are VERY sharp! They do the job, but I don't want to cut anything but hair with these, in order to retain their edge. They would be good for the darner or seamstress, also. I’ve had this pair for almost 10 years and they are still super sharp. I use them for cutting hair mostly, even on my toddler’s super soft baby hair. They’ve outlasted every hair clipper and other pair of scissors I’ve owned. Quality product

    • Tightening the screw makes them not cut at tips
The first 10 cuts or so, they seemed to work good. I dropped them in the floor, and then they only cut near the axis and not at the tip. I tightened the screw thinking that that might help, but it didn't. I thought they were junk! I've cut my husband's hair for 50 years with cheap scissors and never had scissors that didn't cut like these. I couldn't understand all the good reviews on them! Later, when I was finally able to loosen the screw by hand, the scissors cut fine on the tips. I wish there had been instructions about the screw, but I'm glad the scissors work now! ... show more

I've lost count of how many years I've used these shears. I use them for my own haircuts, my husband, brother, mother, father, grandmother, and several friends. I think my first pair lasted about 6 years before I had to replace them, which is more than fair for the price. I will say these shears are probably the sharpest blades in my house. I accidently nipped my finger one time, and the bathroom looked like a scene from a horror film. They are ULTRA sharp. That being said, I would not recommend these for beginners, whether you're just getting started at cosmetology school, or doing haircuts at home for the first time. Get used to holding and moving beginner shears through different hair lengths and textures before reaching for these blades. ... show more
