Description

The les Paul custom made its debut in 1954 after the initial success of the les Paul gold top. Mr. Les Paul himself wanted to convey to audiences that the solid body electric guitar was not a fad but a superb and challenging instrument and that his signature axe, the les Paul, was the king of all electric solid body guitars.

  • QC Issue
Item: Epiphone Custom Pro. Original purchase returned b/c nut cut incorrectly causing distortion and vibration, most notably on D string, frets 2-4. Replacement guitar has the exact same problem, nuts and guitar probably manufactured and assembled in same batch run. A rather obvious QC issue that should have been caught. Very disappointing as this is a really nice instrument. However, the vibration is unacceptable and all too noticeable. In the category of customer service, first call bounced to call center in India. Reps generally argumentative and quoted return policy which is not in agreement with Amazons published return policy. Transferred to 2nd call center in Philippines, unfortunate communication challenges. Requested transfer to US customer service rep. Originally told no, persistence finally got us transferred to US rep. This rep absolutely worked the issue, very professional. ... show more

  • Unbelievable Bargain for an excellent playing guitar
A stunning guitar for $600. I can't fathom why any amateur guitarist would shell out 5 times as much to have a name on the headstock. If you must have the upgraded tuners or pickups, buy them separately. I can buy 5 similar guitars for the price of one Gibson. This guitar plays like butter. I do hear a buzz and it hasn't stayed in tune as well as I like, but I don't play for the Foo Fighters. I love this purchase. ... show more

  • Rock On an On
Bad to the bone right out of the box once tuned. I got the guitar from the China factory and it's as close to the Gibson as you'll ever get. Just amazing quality and this sounds just as good if not better than the real deal Les Paul Custom

  • I had an awful hum in mine. I found a fix
It’s overall a great guitar. I haven’t had any issues with the way it plays. I did run across a problem with excessive hum. Like an open ground. I contacted Epiphone about any known issues. I’m a tech so they just sent me a wiring diagram. There is a connector that I had to sheild and connect to ground. Simple fix. ... show more

  • Plays like a dream!
I've never had the cash for a Gibson but wanted a white LP since I was a kid (with Frampton’s 54 Phenix a close 2nd). As I became a player in the 70s and 80s, Epiphones did NOT have a good reputation. After years of research, decided this was the one. It arrived with a near perfect set up - action was on spec and only needed some very minor intonation. I own a 80's strat and a BC Rich Mockingbird and this plays sweeter by far. The SlimTaper “D” neck is very comfortable for my stubby fingers and plays fast. Quite heavy but I like that. Craftsmanship is stellar considering the price. Sounds great whether full out distortion or clean blues and the split coil switch adds some nice versatility. ... show more

  • Perfect and absolutely gorgeous.
Absolutely stunning Les Paul. Very easy to play. Gorgeous tone and shredding leads. I did have to use adhesive to more firmly attach one of the volume knobs, but no big deal. The only reason I would not recommend to a beginner is because budding guitarists should have to learn to adapt and overcome cheaper made guitars and their quirks before handling the perfection of the Les Paul. Still gave 5 stars on that, not the company's fault for my opinion about that. The much more expensive Gibson will pretty much only get you the satisfaction of saying you own a Gibson Les Paul. Not disappointed and very glad for this purchase. ... show more

  • Totally satisfied
I have been playing guitar starting 1969. I have a Les Paul Custom. This I got because I want ro save the Gibson as pristein as possible. The white chosen Epiphone as the Gibson is black and wanted one of each. I am very pleased as I compaired the two. Totally satisfied as all I did confirm intonation and adjusted srring height and pickup height for personal liking but as recieved it was correctly adjusted to factory specs. Love it. ... show more

  • Great Value!!
I bought this for a friend and I'm really impressed. I've owned many epiphones over the years and even though this was assembled in China it's really very very good. Solid joints, decent hardware, set up ok right out of the box and sounds great. If you can afford a Gibson you'll get a better guitar, but for the money this thing is amazing. I think it's worth a lot more than they charged. ... show more
