The ENTIRE thing is written by AI, there are multiple glaring factual issues in it. I have a pretty good understanding of how ACs work and how to service them already and just wanted something to brush up on EPA 608 specifics... I'd give zero stars if I could. A big one is (page 69, yes page 69. Section: "Seal and Elastomer Compatibility"): "Replace any nitrile components with HFC-compatable materials (EPDM or ***A-flavor*** Buna)..." (emphasis mine). Never heard of an "A-flavor" buna o-ring in my life. There's em dashes every single paragraph. The entire thing is written like a story, no charts, no illustrations. I assume because LLM's can't reliably make those type of charts or graphics yet. Also since it's written like a narration instead of something more akin to a textbook, it makes it hard to find particular information (like if you needed to go back and look for some fact in a previous section). Using LLMs to write fiction is one thing. Using it to write a study guide for an actual trade, that has actual severe consequences is criminally negligent IMHO. Don't waste money on this. Go get a online course (like skillcat or something) those at least actually offer the test and certifications once you complete them. (Even though they use AI for their narrations, at least the information is actually correct.) ... show more

This book reads like it was AI written. Lots of em-dashes, sections right next to each other that are basically repeated with slight rewordings as if the AI was just prompted to write things for that section and came up with more or less the same thing, and a lot of wordy instructions that are out of context or not applicable. For example, in the Type I Certification (small/sealed appliance) it discusses, accurately, that these sealed systems don't have service valves. Then, it gives multiple sets of instructions right after that which assume you have suction line and liquid line service valves. It does discuss how to add a valve/tap later on, but that is different than having a full set of service valves and ports. I wouldn't say it is entirely useless, but it really just reads like AI slop. There are probably better ways out there to study for the EPA 608. ... show more
