  • Much Easier, Faster, and Cheaper than Buying or Renting a Hard-to-Use Push-Type Aerator
Best to use this when the soil is damp and soft so it's easiest. if it's too muddy, it's harder to pull up to step forward. If it's too dry, it's harder for the spikes to penetrate the ground. Definitely to wear with work boots or Army boot, but not shoes. For smaller sizes, patience is needed to move the straps to accommodate smaller sizes, but it's not difficult. Women with size 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 can use these, but great care must be taken to ensure the front strap is as far back toward the ankle as possible and as tight as possible, or the strap might slip off. The platform the boot rests on is not too long for a woman wearing size 5 1/2 to use. The straps are easy to adjust, and not uncomfortable, even when pulled tight. Readjustment/retightening might be needed after a half hour or so of nonstop aeration. Aerating the lawn this way is moderate work and good exercise. This will work legs and provide some cardio because it's not just like walking around the yard. These do take some getting used to, and someone might need a walking stick or (someone else's) rollator with large wheels for balance. These are not a goof product for someone that uses any kind of rollator for daily activities/walking assistance. Easier to go up and down hills instead of across them. Much easier, faster, and cheaper than the hard-to-use push-type aerators. After some rain, there was a noticeable difference between the aerated part of the lawn and the unfinished (unaerated part). ... show more

  • Good price / good product
The shoes were easy to use and did the job. My lawn is starting to look better! They are really easy to use while doing normal "lawn chores" such as raking or watering. My only request is that there should be an option for different shoe sizes. The 1 size fits all option did not work so well for me. I am a female with a small shoe size and even wearing my largest, heaviest hiking boots did not help ME too much. It would be nicer to have teh option to buy a S, M or L size. Thansk! ... show more

  • Easy and it worked.
Worked for my small yard. It was like da fun to do. I do recommend putting them on in the area being used.

  • These barely fit a size 10 foot
One size fits all is not accurate. I wear a size 10 men's shoe and can barely attach the instep strap and the heel strap. Unless you're supposed to go barefoot while wearing these, they are way too small for average size shoes and boots.. Unfortunately, I did not try them on during the return period, otherwise I'd send them back. Other than that, they are well made and very sturdy. Too bad they didn't spend a few cents more add a couple inches to the straps. ... show more

  • Beats the Cost of Hiring Professionals
At my request, a representative of TruGreen came to my home recently. He surveyed my yard and recommended, among other things, that I aerate the soil. When he sent an estimate for just that service, the charge was $150. I told him I would do it myself. My wife and I researched available products and we settled on these aerator shoes. Before trying them today, a man from an independent lawn service, who canvassed my neighborhood, stuck a business card in our front door jamb advertising $80 for aeration. So, I have already saved quite a bit by purchasing these shoes. The product came intact and fully assembled. I donned them without any real difficulty, but it took a while to figure out how to align the Velcro straps. I'm 5' 10 1/2", weigh 165 pounds, and wear a size 12D shoe. I wore my Merrell Nova Traveler trail runners over the aerator shoes. I could not push the aerator shoes into the ground first before donning them as suggested by the enclosed illustrated instructions. My North Texas soil was too hard and compacted in the bare spot where I chose to start. I had to don them while sitting on my Coleman camping stool. Once I got up and put my weight on the aerator shoes, the spikes sank into the soil. I noticed that it was harder for them to penetrate dry soil. The spikes penetrated moist, grass-covered soil much easier. I struggled to maintain my balance at first. I learned that it was easier to walk in them if I canted my feet slightly inward while stepping down. Overall, I am well pleased with these shoes. They appear to be durable and well-made. The biggest advantage they offer me is saving money. They cost considerably less than the price of hiring professionals. And, since I only have to pay for them once, the more I use them, the more I will save. ... show more

  • Amazon Deleted my Review - Product is despicable
Spikes are not tapered and are threaded at the 'sole.' This tears out grass, roots and dirt which stick to the 'sole.' This must be periodically scraped off or you no longer penetrate the soil to any degree. Holes almost immediately seal up after watering. A tapered and sharpened ferrule in place of sharpened bolts might solve this and the issue of material sticking to the spikes. Foot bed/ sole is plastic with little flex. I surmise it will deteriorate rapidly. XL was still three inches too short for my size fourteen feet. The foot bed/ sole is flat with the straps attached to it. Every time you step on the ground so do the straps which wears them out quickly. Easily solved in the injection mold process to include raised sections to incorporate the straps and eliminate a premature wear condition. Straps are too short for work boots. Summary: Needs longer straps Needs more rigid foot bed/ sole design for longevity Needs raised edges for straps to keep them OFF the ground. Tapered (conical) shaped ferrules in place of the bolts to create larger pores and to minimize clogging issues. A longer device for large feet. Specific measurements should be provided for different needs. This was a great idea with real applicable use, unfortunately, all of its potential is completely unrealized in this cheap, poorly designed, poorly constructed, laughable waste of materials. ... show more
