Description

Pack Engel's Eng50 Cooler in boats and cars for camping, fishing, or hunting trips, and expect your food and drinks to stay iced for days. Its roto-molded SingleForm HardShell construction stays strong for traveling rugged terrain and rough waters, and it meets IBSC's certification to keep bears out of the cooler. Two-inch insulation works with the airtight ArcticVault Gasket to retain ice for around ten days. The Eng50 Cooler also features a TruHold Lid that doubles as a casting deck while fly fishing, and the Unity Latch System uses stainless steel materials for a secure closure, and the DuoLock Security Holes add extra locking security when wild animals are nearby. The Anvil Hinge keeps the TruHold Lid upright when opened, and Quadra-grip Tie-Down Points secure this cooler to boats and car trunks. At the bottom, Engel finished this cooler with a one-twist Flick Drain Plug and grippy, non-marking Cornerstone Feet.

  • Buyer beware when purchasing this cooler
Color: White
We purchased this cooler for a camping trip. We found out that the cooler leaked on our trip, getting water in the back of our Subaru Ascent. When we got home we tried to send it back, but since it was on day 32 from purchase, we were told that the supplier to Amazon wouldn't replace it with a new unit. They said to talk to the manufacturer since it has a warranty. Unfortunately when you look at Engels site it says it does not warranty anything sold through a third party seller selling through Amazon which is where the cooler was sent to us from. Thus we have a $270 boat anchor which is worthless. Amazon's A to Z warranty did nothing for us. They said since it was past 30 days they were not going to do anything for us either. We have filed a claim with our credit card company and it currently has been put on hold. I am very disappointed in Engel and especially with Amazon. I thought Amazon would stand up for their customers, but we found out they only want your money and could care less about your satisfaction with their service. I never expected this from what I thought was a reputable retailer like Amazon. ... show more

  • Good cooler. No warranty. Good luck.
Color: White
Edit: Purchasing from Amazon will not warranty the cooler. You will not be able to return it. Engle will not return or replace the cooler or any damaged parts. It’s been a good cooler keeping ice retention for 5+ days in 95 degree heat. Gets really dirty and won’t clean up. $250 for an ice chest is a lot of money. With no warranty, I’d keep shopping. I want a smaller ice chest now but it won’t be Engel. ... show more

  • Did not keep ice for 24 hours
Color: White
Very disappointed in the cooler. Our basic coleman from walmart keeps ice better than this. Ice did not even last 24 hours and we even pre-cooled it. Don't understand how it was so bad when other people raved about it. I chose this one because of the dimensions- allowing us to fit it in a specific place when travelling- and after a lot or research. Maybe this was just a bad one in the batch. Returned and refunded by amazon. ... show more

  • Exactly what you need
Color: White
This cooler is exactly what I was looking for. I’m not going on week long excursions and if a bear gets to my cooler it means I’m likely already dead. All I wanted was a quality cooler that would keep beer cold for a weekend at the lake. It came a day BEFORE estimated arrival date.... during the week of the Fourth of July which I can only imagine is the peak of cooler season....I was amazed. Took it out for the weekend of the fourth to the lake. 10 lbs bag of ice over top 35 beers. Put beer in at fridge temp and covered with 10 lbs bag of ice around 7:00 am Friday morning, drank at a regular pace all day Friday and the cooler was in the sun. Saturday morning it had plenty of ice. I added the rest of the beers and topped off with a 5 lbs bag of ice just to be safe. By Sunday night I still had enough ice to have a few more cold ones. I cant speak to the extreme claims that dominate the cooler advertising these days but if you want a cooler for your beer that will last all weekend in the sun, this is it. At $250 it was well worth it. ... show more

  • Rubber foot broke off on 2nd use & no warranty
Color: Haze Grey
Rubber foot broke off on second use. Very sturdy otherwise and definitely keeps the cold. But they certainly didn't make it easy to move around with one person and we had no unusual use after which I noticed that a foot was missing and so foam was beginning to crumble out. Then I discover that they won't cover it under warranty if bought at a discount from Amazon, even though it was new. ... show more

  • Great value, excellent performance!
Color: White
Great value for a rotomolded cooler. Just returned from a 5 day trip with plenty of ice left over. This was my first nice cooler. After a lot of research, decided on Engel over Canyon, Yeti, Orca and Pelican. Do yourself a favor, if you spend this much on a cooler, research how to pack it properly. Pre-chill, blocks v cubes, ice to contents ratio, etc. Just get on YouTube. The first time I used it, I was disappointed with the ice retention but it totally user error. Really happy with it now that I know how to use it! Accessories are great, and the latches are much better than competitors in my opinion. ... show more

  • Even keeps ice cream solid!
Color: Tan
I purchased this about a month or so ago and have used it on two camping trips. One was about 6 hours from my home and I stayed in a cabin, the other was a 3 day camping trip in the woods. On the first trip I packed everything with ice sheet packs. It stayed super cold for the entire trip and even decided to bring ice cream back which it stayed frozen solid for the 6 hour trip! On the 3 day camping trip I packed the ice sheets again and everything stay cold the entire time, no issues with items getting even warm on top! It is a wonderful cooler, very sturdy, and I even use it as a table in my tent! ... show more

  • Works great as long as there is tension on the latches
Color: Tan
When I first received the cooler, I did a test with a couple bags of ice and one ice block. I was very disappointed that it melted faster than expected. By day 2 a third to half of the ice was melted - not what I expected based on all the reviews I read. The latches felt loose when in the closed position and there was not a lot of tension. I tried the paper test where you place a sheet of paper in the gasket area of the cooler with the lid latched shut (trapping the sheet of paper between the lid and the lip of the cooler opening). I was able to pull the sheet out with with some effort from the front part of the cooler near the latches. It was not sealing properly in that area. I loosened the screws on the latch hardware and made minor adjustments to the placement of the latches. There was a little bit of play on both the top hardware piece and bottom hardware piece. I moved the top hardware up a smidge and the bottom hardware down a smidge. I did this to both latches. Once all the screws were tightened, I tried closing the latches; it made a thunk sound when I pushed the latches all the way down to shut the lid - just what I had hoped for. There is now more tension on the latches. I did the paper test and was not able to pull the paper out. We used it on an 11 day road trip in May. We set out with 1/3 of the cooler filled with ice at the bottom and the rest of the space taken up by food. We purchased ice once after 5 days to top it off. At the end of the 11 days there was still half the original ice at the bottom of the cooler. It kept the food cold and no food was spoiled. It worked really well. ... show more
