This is possibly the best cooler ever. It holds ice for a long time, even in the heat and its very spacious. I bought this cooler for work back in November of 2022 and I'm just now at the point of having to replace it in June of 2026.

If you compare this to any Yeti product then you are comparing two different class products. This Engel Cooler Dry box 19qt compared to a Yeti Roadie 19qt quite frankly is no comparison. ($60 vs $249) I own them both for comparison. 1st The Engel's outside size it much smaller than a Yeti. Obviously this means less foam insulation. This is where it wins in certain situations. I use it for day trips, and road trips that I don't have the need for cold food or drinks past the 2 day mark. I also was concerned about the hinges like others on this cooler but it has performed great for me so far. I can see how it would be great as a lunch box as some other users claim. It does what is built to do. Keeps food cold, or keep your dry goods dry. 2nd This cooler is much lighter than a Yeti once again because it is not built to the same standard. I do use mine as a seat from time to time and have not had any issues @200 lbs. I have used this cooler on my boat and it performed great. I would suggest the Ice packs, or frozen waters to keep your items chilled because it is only 19 quarts. I actually bought this product because I thought it might have been the deal of the century Yeti like knock off. It is not a Yeti but I was not disappointed for the $60.00 price point. It is great little cooler for the money, it is just not a Yeti. Compare it more to a similarly priced product and you will find it is a gem. Engel does make coolers that are comparable to the Yeti in the Deep Blue series. This is where my initial confusion started because my research didn't spell out the differences in the cooler series. You would think I should have known the difference up front spending 1/4 of the money. My confusion yielded me a little useful cooler that I use quite often. It is a quality product that I can see lasting for years to come. Please compare the deep blue series Engel to the Yeti if you want a true comparison. I've been using my Engel 19qt Lunchbox for a few weeks now, and I'm absolutely blown away by its performance. This thing is a beast when it comes to keeping things cold. This is definitely a long term review of this cooler/lunchbox as I ordered mine in May of 2018 and have used it daily since that time as my lunchbox and occasionally as a small cooler. It performs fantastically as my daily lunchbox. I work in a factory that gets super hot in summer and I can put in ice packs and it keeps my drinks and food cold for duration of my shift. It’s very sturdy in its construction, except for a couple of issues. One of the plastic hinges on the back did eventually break. But after probably 4 or 5 years of use. They do make metal replacements and that’s what mine has on it now. Also, the strap on mine broke not long after having it. I ended up making my own strap for it and still use it to this day. As far as everything else, it’s been fantastic. I paid around 40 dollars for mine 7 years ago and they’ve more than doubled in price since then but so has just about everything else. I remember an older coworker at the time commenting on the price and how he’d never pay that much for a lunchbox. It been worth it to me even with replacing the hinges. That is one thing they should change is make them with metal hinges and ditch the plastic ones. You won’t be sorry if you ourchase one but like other reviews stated it’s not going to hold ice for a few days on end but for short trips or for a daily lunchbox it works fantastic. This is my fourth Engel ice chest. This is my second 19qt. the first one I bought eight years ago still in good shape but the led is cracked from being in the sun all day at work.so I decided to get a new one. It keeps my food cold all day long in the sun all day.

Everyday carry. I love this box, I’ve had it for a couple weeks and the 19 is the perfect size. I ordered an extra tray so I can keep the ibuprofen, wallet, keys, etc. on one side and drink powders and stuff on the other. It makes for a good seat and seems well constructed and durable. I like the metal clasps and included shoulder strap. I’d like to seen metal hinges and a Made in USA sticker on it, but you can’t win them all. Good purchase and fair price point. ... show more
