Initially a 5 star rating and now a -5 star rating. When I first purchased these I was really impressed with their performance and dedicated a pair of light weight hiking boots to their use. I walk wood trails and open fields 3-4X/day over a variety of frozen surfaces. For a week they worked as advertised. Then the failure of the metal cross piece the mounts laterally across the front of the toe box of the boot which then hooked the other boot resulting in a fall and a broken and displaced patella. I now have a 6 week wait in a knee immobilizer and if I am lucky I will not require surgery. I doubt my use would constitute abuse. I hope that my injury and experience is not repeated by another purchaser. Buyer beware. For those o those users who have not had a failure of that cross piece yet please check its integrity prior to use. ... show more

These spikes provide excellent traction on ice. My wife and I used a set to hike Mount Marcy recently. We might not have have made it to the summit and down without them. They held up to the full 15 miles without failure. The points were subjected to ice, snow, bare boulders, and constant streams of water. They never came off once until I was ready to take them off. Easy to put on and the added strap over the top helps keep them on. I look forward to using them again and seeing how well the steel points hold up to more miles. ... show more

This is a very well made product. I wear a size 9 boot. I got a size large Crampon cleats. This size works well with my boots. The chains/spikes are not hard to put on. The fit is snug so that they will not fall off. I walked outside in the snow and on the ice packed path. I felt safe wearing these. A product made so you won't slip and fall. ... show more

I’ve been looking for something to wear for winter hikes, and these work great. I haven’t had a chance to test them on a full hike yet, but I did wear them on some uneven terrain after it had just snowed a foot. In areas that were iced over, I didn’t slip at all. My boots are a size 8 - I got the medium and they fit my boots a little snug, but I think the next size up would have been too big. I’d rather them be snug than slip off. They are easy to put on and take off, and I like the Velcro strap for added security. ... show more

These snow spikes work! I used for a hike in the Rocky Mountains and they gave me 100% confidence hiking uphill and downhill on snow and ice. I simply did not slip. This has been the worst winter for ice that I have ever seen in our area. These ice cleats are the best ones I have ever used and I highly recommend them. There are easy to get on and off and I feel like I could walk up the side of a glacier!

I admit, I was hesitant to spend this much, but after testing them, I would order them again in a heartbeat. I can walk straight up a glare ice hill with out slipping. They are stretchy and go on and off boots easily. I have taken them hiking in the woods and they did not fall off.. They seem well made, and the XL fits my size 11 Insulated rubber boots very well.
