I've been painting on and off since i was 13, I'm 23 now and am starting to get into it heavily once again. For me I needed something to replace the art teacher that inspired me and gave me direction in high school. This isn't as good as Mr. Murphy but it's pretty close. It's easy to read and I think it would be easy for everyone from an expert to a beginner to find useful information in it. I bought mine used and it came in perfect condition with the original reciept from the early 90s.
