The star ratings ask for a rating for "sheerness", which is dumb. These are blackout curtains and are anything but sheer. They aren't supposed to be sheer. The fabric is satiny and heavy. They hang beautifully. The gold is very shiny, so if you are looking for something "understated", keep looking. :-) These curtains are showy and very pretty. The only downside is that the blackout lining is black and is not covered with a white backing fabric, so the color you see from outside is black, which is not my favorite thing. Also, when the drapes are closed and it is bright outside, the white fabric on the front of the curtains does pick up a hint of a gray tint. I am not bothered by it but other reviewers have been. From a blackout perspective though, you could have a searchlight shining through your windows and these curtains would not let the light through! I really like them. ... show more
