I got caught in the rapids with my paddle on the downstream side of my canoe wedged behind a rock at the bottom. I weight 260 pounds. I put all of my might into levering myself away from the rock before I flipped over. The paddle snapped right where it meets the pole. The picture on Amazon shows kayak paddles, these are canoe paddles and different than the picture. The canoe paddles are 55" in length, 7" wide. They have a non slip grip on the lower portion of the shaft, handles and paddles are riveted on to the shaft. Molded handle is smooth on one face, open ribbed on the other.
