I use it on a full-size bed so it is a little large. But, I'll see if it shrinks when I need to wash it. It should be just right for a queen bed, although it might call for a bed skirt if it is important to cover to the floor.. I won't use the light pink side as an alternate look. We bought this specifically to liven up a bedroom, for "staging the house" to put it on the market. We bought a king size, to fit on a queen bed. It's a very strong color, which draws your eye. That is a definite positive. The negative is that if you look at the bedspread closely, it is apparent that it was not expensive. It definitely doesn't look pricey. The thickness is perfect for FL. The coral color is quite a bit brighter than the photos. The material must be slightly slippery bc my blanket between it and the sheets is always slipping down or out and this never happened with my old comforter.
