One of the concrete block piers under our house was failing and had shifted. I am assuming the footing wasn’t dug deep enough. The house was built in the 1970’s when building codes were not as strict. I placed this jack onto a a new reinforced footing at a main structural point of the floor joist. This jack is incredibly well made and easy to use. I was able to snug the jack initially by turning it by hand, and then more by using a metal bar. I think I could lift one end of the entire house with this beast. A bit pricey, but well worth the investment. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another one if needed.

I am awestruck and gob-smacked! I recently purchased a water front house where the added slab overhung the water. The corner of this 30' concrete, about 9" deep had drooped about 6 inches at the end. I was able to bring it level and used nothing but a long pipe and my back. At 72 ys of age I still have decent body strength but I am not a weight lifter. I will now replace it with block and mortar to start a support section for a new deck. That's right, you can reuse it!! Forget hiring riggers until you give it a try! Initially had purchased a set of Jack-Posts from Home Depot to raise a section of our home that had fallen due to settling (homes a hundred years old). The Jack-Posts are NOT heavy duty and not meant for this type of real work. The Ellis Steel Shores however are; they are incredibly sturdy with welded face plates on top and bottom. The screw portion is HUGE and runs on bearings, even under incredibly high loads the bearings do not drag. I would happily buy products from Ellis Mfgrg again as they are very sturdy, very well built, and very adjustable. The only thing to be aware of, the shores do not come with handles as shown in the image, the collar actually has 4 holes, at 90 degree locations, 1" in diameter - the perfect size to insert a 1" OD steel pipe section to use as a lever arm (something you can buy at any hardware store). Fantastic product, I'm very satisfied.

The jack was clearly shown with a handle in the pictures. When I received the jack I noted there was not a handle with the jack. I read the description multiple times and there was no mention that the handle was an accessory. I contacted Ellis Manufacturing and they said, "Oh there is no handle included." I noticed right after my complaint they changed the picture of their item and removed the handle from the picture. However they did not send a handle and they told me I could purchase one. I felt Ellis totally misrepresented their product and am very disappointed in their response. I will not purchase another Ellis product.
