After purchasing a new projector that allowed me to memorize zoom and focus, etc, for different aspect ratios, I decided to move from a 106" 16 by 9 retractable screen to this 125" 2.35:1 screen. I can now zoom most movies out to fill the height and width of the screen (no black bars) since most of the time we watch movies in our home theater. We don't watch cable/TV at all in this room. All I can say is... WOW!!! The immersion factor when watching epic movies on this scale has been incredible. I could never go back. The only downside is that normal 16 by 9 movies no longer fill the screen on each side. But we can mask that if needed. The screen came in a reasonably small box about four feet long and was well packed... no damage at all. The frame is twice as long and has to be assembled with basic tools. I found this to be very intuitive overall and took about 90 minutes because I wanted to be very careful with sharp edges around the screen material. The screen itself is held on with heavy duty Velcro around the entire edge on the back side and does a great job of holding the material tight and wrinkle free. Overall, it was pretty easy to assemble, although the instructions were obviously designed to be used with different size screens (e.g. the 125" had two upright support bars in the frame, not one as shown in the instructions.) The screen is intended to hang directly on a wall and I'm sure the brackets supplied would have been fine. I ended up mounting mine in front of black curtains so I needed to fabricate some 9" braces to make the screen 'float' in front of the folds of the curtains. Overall, more work than expected but the result is fabulous. This screen is perhaps more money than some alternatives out there, especially for a fixed frame, but you can certainly pay a lot more as well. I thought it was a good combination of value and performance for an screen that has no black edge on it. ... show more

I will be setting this screen up to my Optoma hd25 this weekend and update later. Currently I have only built the screen, but I have to say it was harder than expected. The instructions are quite clear but having you install the the center support bar last on the 120 inch model is tough. It felt like I was pushing at least 150 pounds of force. As the screen was compressing the metal about 3/4 of an inch at the middle. Took a measurement as I almost couldn't get it on and though about leaving it off. It the end it looks good and seems square, so as long as it sits flush on the the wall after mounting it will be perfect except for 1 tiny detail. the corners of the screen are noticeably thicker and jut out slightly. Once I stand far away I don't see it but not sure how that will look with the projector on. ... show more

I bought this screen few months ago. My basement project took longer than I thought and finally my contractor opened it to assemble right before 30 day return period and we found out that this is already a used/returned product as there are hand written 'OK' s on the parts. My contractor tried to put this together with the instructions provided but the screen is too small to strech around the frame. Somehow we managed to strech but on the corners the metal frame is still showing up. Then we tried to put the frame around and the wholes are not aligning properly as the screen edge was coming in the way (bad design). I rquested a return. As this is sold by thrid party they would not pay for return shipping. We have to pay out of pocket and go through AtoZ claim with Amazon. Also noticed they have a 20-50% restocking fee. Since it is a faulty product they should not charge any restocking fee but again we have to go through Amazon A2Z claim to fight that. So after paying my contractor $400 to try it out, I would endup taking that loss even if I get a full refund! I would say spend a bit more and get a motorized dropdown screen to save all the time and frustration. ... show more

Picture quality is excellent. I purchased the cinegrey material (not the cinegrey 3D). I read a bunch of one star reviews about the screen having creases. I did not have this problem. I will say you really need to follow the instructions when stretching out the material to get the screen installed correctly. I gave 3 stars on install because of the black border. The black border was a real pain for me. They are just cheap black plastic strips with 3m tape on the back. Honestly, the strips look good, but they are a pain to remove once they touch the screen material at all. I have the smallest gap in the middle of where two connect and it really bothers me. the gap is my fault I just can’t get the strip off now without feeling like I’m going to damage the screen material. If you choose to install the border, really take your time and ensure the pieces are the way you want them. I still highly recommend this product. ... show more

I will start with my only real complaint which I have seen others post. Now that it is on the wall, one side sticks out a bit, but I think it was my fault in trying to lift it on my own and then realizing that my screws were not tight enough. I am sure I bent it a bit and then tightened it down that way. The 180' is a bit hard to maneuver even though it is not heavy. It looks great and the picture looks great as well. I am having trouble deciding if I want to add the included trim. Price is a bit steep but there weren't a lot of options for permanent screens this size. I would recommend it! ... show more

    • Screen smear and misaligned border holes

I had a decently easy time following the instructions aside from the screw numbers were not accurate with the inventory so I had to count them to know which ones they were referring to. In one case they referred to a size that wasn't even on the inventory. The guide/support poles were not long enough to fit all the way through the edges of the screen which made putting the screen on somewhat difficult. Then after the springs were attached they had me put rubber ends onto the poles that were already inserted into the screen which was impossible for all but 2 of the poles due to them not being long enough to come out of the fabric plus the tension from the springs made the poles essentially stuck in place. Once I started to add the border frame I noticed that all the drilled holes were slightly out of alignment. After fussing with it for some time I decided to not have the border. I tried again later and realized I could only screw it on by angling the screws which stripped one of the corners and didnt allow it to completely screw in. So that corner was raised higher than the rest which gives the border an affect if a thinner edge than the rest. After hanging the screen I noticed that the bottom right corner is bent away from the wall making that corner slightly closer to the projector which throws off the picture. To fix that I had to add velcro to the wall to keep it from bending out about 1 Inch. I also noticed that while I was messing with screwing in the velvet border the screen created a small ripple on two corners of the screen. However because I stripped one side and had to angle the screws I decided not to try to fix that which is very upsetting. Lastly while watching a show I noticed that there is a small noticeable streak across the center of the screen. It looks like a dirty wall. This can't be detected when there is a lot going on but with a solid color hitting that part of the screen it's very noticeable. I will be returning this screen especially since it's 500$ and my textured Grey wall at 0$ had no issues and the quality was slightly less vs the screen but not 500$ less. ... show more
