Description

To make recording party chat as easy as possible, Chat Link features 1 female and 2 male jacks. To start, plug your headset into the female jack. Then, take the short male jack and plug it directly into your PS4 controller or into the Xbox One chat adapter connected to your controller. If you are using Game Capture HD60, take the long male jack and plug it into the Analog In port of your HD60. Once everything is connected, open up your Game Capture HD software settings and change the audio input to Analog Audio. If you are using Game Capture HD60 Pro, take the long male jack and plug it into the Line In port of your PC Motherboard (This is usually blue in color). Once everything is connected, open up your Game Capture HD software settings and change the audio input to Line In Audio. If you are using Game Capture HD, you will need an additional 3.5mm to RCA-Y adapter so that you can plug into the Component breakout cable allowing you to then connect to the A/V In port on the HD. Then in the same way as the HD60, open up your Game Capture HD software settings and change the audio input to Analog Audio.4-pole 3.5mm (TRRS) HeadsetsThe most common headset, equipped with a 4-pole 3.5mm jack, is natively compatible with the Elgato Gaming Chat Link. This includes but is not limited to:Astro A40Astro A30Turtle Beach P12Turtle Beach X07Apple iBudsStereo PC headsets with 2 3.5mm JacksPC headsets with 2 3.5mm jacks, one for headphone, one for mic, are compatible with the Elgato Gaming Chat Linkcable when paired with a PC to 4-pole adapter. This includes but is not limited to:SteelSeries Siberia V2SteelSeries 5hv2Sennheiser PC360Sennheiser PC350Beyerdynamic MMX 300Turtle Beach X12Non-Compatible HeadsetsUSB headsets are not compatible with the Elgato Gaming Chat Link.Wireless headsets are not compatible with the Elgato Gaming Chat Link. However, certain wireless headsets can include a mobile cable which equips it with the 4-pole 3.5mm jack, where it can act as a wired headset as well. • Works great, until it doesn't.
Style: Chat Link Pro
I have a controlled environment for my stream setup, excellent cable management, and I take a lot of care to ensure my electronics are treated carefully to ensure they last. This product, lasted me about 2 months before it began to fail. The connection to the Xbox controller, began to fail, and while other headsets connected do not have any issues, this cable in the same slot produces a lot of extra feedback both in the Xbox party to other members, and on stream. I had to stop using the cable because of this issue, and basically avoid capturing any game chat audio. El Gato captures party audio natively, this cable is only necessary for game chat. I would only recommend purchasing this cable if you absolutely need to record game chat, and if you do, buy several, because it's likely you'll only have a few months with each one. ... show more

  • Great product and works as intended. Instructions for Astro A50, Xbox One, HD60 Pro, Windows included in my review.
Style: Chat Link
This product works as advertised and is well made from my experience with it so far. I use Astro A50s for my Xbox One in combination with my Elgato Game Capture HD60 Pro. The instructions the Elgato website provides for getting this to work with most headsets is good and will probably work for most users but I think people with A50s may be confused as to how they can properly use this so I'm going to include some information and instructions below to help out. ==================== Who are these instructions for: If you want to be able to use your Astro A50s with the game capture software to record game video, game audio, chat audio, AND your own commentary on your Windows computer. Read this to know what you need (you don't need too much): To get this functional, you must be able to plug in your Astro A50 headset into the audio port of the controller (or the stereo headset adapter). So if you have the Astro Xbox One adapter (which plugs into the accessory port and not the audio port) you will need to get a cable to be able to do this. I don't know if there exists a 2.5 to 3.5 cable which can do all of this at once, but if you have a 2.5 to 2.5 cable (like me), you can get a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter to get this to work. If you have/bought the stereo headset adapter, it should already come with a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter (although the quality of the cable wasn't so good from my experience). Read this to see if you have things set up correctly before proceeding: If you have Astro A50s then you should already be aware that your headset has the mixamp built in. So if you have everything working correctly with your headset then you should have your controller audio output set to maximum voice with no game audio (since the headset already receives game audio from the wireless transmitter/console). If you're using a controller with an audio port you can verify this in the chat settings in the sidebar by double tapping the Xbox Guide Button and scrolling all the way down or if you're using the stereo headset adapter you simply keep tapping on the person icon until you hear beeps. Read this to understand the problem and the fix: TLDR Version -> There are two available audio inputs in the software, but we want to use 3. So we merge 2 of them into 1. In simple terms, the game capture software can use one video input and up to two audio inputs. Your primary video and audio input are coming from your console, so game video and game sound. You can add another audio input by using the live commentary feature which is in the right sidebar of the capture software. The problem comes from the fact that this cable will take the audio output of the controller (or stereo headset adapter) which we have set to only output voice chat. So if you follow the normal directions you will only get the voice chat from the cable. [At this point you may be asking why we don't change the audio balance for the controller audio output and just use that as the source for game audio in our headset instead of the transmitter/console. I tried this already and the audio sounds bad, you'll notice a distinct degradation of audio quality in your headset if you try this like I did.] So in total we really have 3 tracks of audio we want to use but there are only two available inputs in the software. We'll fix this by leaving the game audio as the primary audio input and combine our voice chat and microphone (that you use for commentary) into a single audio input that we can use for the live commentary. Follow these instructions to fix: 1. Download and install the VB-CABLE Virtual Audio Device (http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/Cable/). This is free and works. 2. Go to your list of recording devices on your PC and right click on the line-in input (that gets the voice chat) and open the properties. Do the same for your microphone. 3. For both of the devices, click the listen tab and check the "Listen to this device" checkbox on and select "CABLE Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)" from the dropdown list. Click OK. 4. In your game capture software, choose "CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable)" as the source for your live commentary. Notes: You'll have to play with the volume levels and such to get the right balance that you want. Also, you will probably want to turn off mic monitoring so you don't hear an echo of yourself. ==================== Hopefully at least one person found these instructions helpful. ... show more

  • Great product, except...

Ok so disclaimer I am not using this product as instructed or what it is purposed for but it still works... well, kinda. So basically I am using this to link audio from my Xbox One and laptop pc to one pair of headphones so that I can simultaneously talk on discord with my friends and game. I am only doing this until I can afford a proper mixing console so this is a pretty good temporary fix and I do recommend it as a cheap solution. That being said, for anyone looking to do something similar, when the ground loop isolator is turned on, the sound coming from the pc on the stereo end of the link is both extremely reduced in volume as well as a bit distorted at times. Even running it through my DAC/amp the sound is still a bit shotty, but if you are not currently in a game and are just listening to music or on your computer, turning the isolator off eliminates all of that. The isolator does wonders to get rid of the ground loop buzzing sound coming from a pluged-in/charging controller. I'm sure that using this product as intended results in a much better experience as there is no other audio signal coming into the product from a capture cart, but like I said it is a cheap temporary solution for anyone wanting to get audio from two sources on one set of headphones. Just know that the lack of a 4-pole 3.5 mm tip on the part that goes into the pc means that if you have a headset it will not carry the mic signal into your pc. ... show more
