Features

  • 1. Perfect Function By removing soil cores, this lawn aerator reduces compaction in your yard meanwhile letting air, water and fertilizer get deep into roots. So grass will grow better.
  • 2. Firm Construction The aerator lawn tool made of powder-coated steel is definitely heavy-duty and rust-resistant.
  • 3. Ingenious Design Cushioned handles provide comfortable grip. 39.6-inch height and the foot bar can not only protect you from back strain, but also provide extra leverage for quick push when aerating. Unique conical prongs let the plug aerator penetrate into soil easily and then eject cores smoothly without clogging.
  • 4. Collect Cores Automatically Unlike other core aerators, our aeration tool for lawn has 2 buckets which can collect those cores automatically. You dont have to sweep the yard after aerating.
  • 5. With Cleaning Stick The cleaning stick is also very high-quality made of exactly the same material as the yard aerator. Each time you finish aerating, you can clean the soil aerator with this durable stick.

  • Works as advertised
I bought this to deal with some dirt compacting issues in my backyard. I wanted to be able to aerate those areas to help the grass to grow better. Hiring companies to aerate my whole lawn has only resulted in them breaking something in my yard and I was just over it. When I got the opportunity to receive this product and rest it out, I eagerly accepted. The instructions indicated there were close ended (nipple) nuts for the ends of the bolts. There were regular locking nuts. Same goal achieved, but having the rounded ends would have been nice. Putting the three main parts of the body together was relatively easy, but did require banging it on a stone to get the rods to fully seat. Putting the baskets on the bottom was a little tricky until I used a flashlight. Then I could see I was lined up and where the threaded hole was so I could get the bolts hand-threaded to start. The pusher rod for clearing the aerating spikes also doubles as a weed puller. I thought that was a clever bonus so you can weed while you aerate. The aerator worked exactly as advertised. I was able to do plugs after plugs after plugs and the baskets just filled up. Clearing the aerating spikes after the last plugs was not as simple as pushing the plugs out. The weeder cuts into the plugs so only part of them comes out. You have to push more and clear along the inner walls until it's clean. This will be a helpful tool to use while maintaining my yard. It feels sturdy and well-built. ... show more

  • Fantastic product!
Many sources said that fall is the best time to prep the lawn. We actually use a landscaper company for the front yard and they just rode an aerator truck and put down the seeds and fertilizer this week (mid-September). Meanwhile, I also have a pretty large backyard that's below 30 stairs -- as a result, landscapers (I have asked several) want to charge an arm and leg to take care of it, so I (try to) take care of it myself. I have followed the Scotts program since this spring, and while there's definitely an improvement, I feel the it will benefit from aerating (which we never did after purchasing this house 2 years ago). Due to the steps, renting those aerating machines is out of the question. I was looking at those shoes or devices with spikes at some point and learned that they will only compact soil further and make things worse!!! Then, I saw this product, and I was excited. The assembly of this item is straightforward, but I didn't use it immediately as I dreaded how difficult the job might be. I finally took it out on a cool fall day (the same week where my landscaper did my front lawn -- get to follow the experts' timing). To my surprise, the task is a lot easier than I thought. Don't get me wrong -- it's pure labor, but for the most part, the aerator digs into the soil quite easily and it is so satisfying to see the cores being pushed out -- It's almost fun! For my whole yard, the dirt got stuck twice in one hole and I had to use the tool provided to push out the stuck core. I also needed to tighten the screws halfway through -- I did put my weight on it (I am 115lb and do not have a lot of arm strength) and rock the tool to get into the ground where the soil is densely packed. My suggestion is to aerate your lawn after heavy rain. Spread out the cores collected as they are great for the lawn when they break down (another piece of advice i gathered from the internet). While it's pretty labor-intensive, it's more fun than other tasks, say blowing leaves or removing weeds. I hope I have done a decent job today that I don't need to repeat it too often (I think once a year is sufficient). Overall, I am very satisfied such an inexpensive item can solve my problem. Fingers crossed for a lush lawn next year. ... show more

  • Nice manual Aerator!
The media could not be loaded. My wife and I were looking for a manual aerator for our lawn. We had rented the big powered ones in the past, but we're both getting to old to slog one of those heavy monsters around. Besides, our lawn isn't that big, so doing it manually is no problem for us. We found this little gizmo and it works great! It was very easy to assemble. Just put the poles together and thread the supplied bolts through the holes, attach the nuts and tighten. Simple! I recommend you water your lawn before using this, unless you've had rain recently. You need soft soil to work it. I filmed my wife demonstrating it, wearing her lovely painting shorts and pink tennis shoes. As you can see in the attached video, the dirt "plugs" that are pushed out by tool get deposited in little buckets attached to the side of the tool, so you can easily dump them elsewhere. No bending over or raking up the removed plugs! Nice! Once finished, you can use the supplied wood-handled cleaning stick to push the left-over dirt plugs out of each channel. What I like: * Easy to assemble. * Durable and sturdy materials * Cups to catch the aerated dirt plugs. * They give you a tool to clean out the channels after you finish the job. What I don't like: * The blue padding on the handle is made of some inexpensive foam that I think is not going to last long. I included a photo of a portion of the handle that already has a tear in it. I knocked off a star for that alone. The bottom line: Overall, this is a nicely-designed tool for manually aerating your lawn. I wouldn't recommend it for extremely large lawns as it would take you forever and you'd be exhausted when finished. But I do recommend this for smaller jobs! ... show more
