My 5 year old grandson loves this! I was concerned it might be too small for him ( he's tall for his age and weighs 70 lbs) but no problem. The digger was slightly challenging to assemble. The seat was difficult to slide into its grooves but we solved that with a rubber mallet. I recommend a power drill because we had to drill pilot holes for the screws to secure the seat. There are no step by step instructions but it's really self explanatory once you look at it. Our little guy played with it indoors too since he is so imaginative like most kids his age. He says it would be great at the beach! Outside he dug up a neglected garden area with a little assist from my husband breaking the soil first. I sent my son a video of him playing with it and now he wants to order one to keep at his house. Overall we are very pleased and would definitely recommend this digger! ... show more

We bought a different digger about 4 years ago, different brand. It held up pretty well through the elements. We bought two of these on sale. They seem a little more flimsy. They didn’t come with instructions, as other reviews have said, so we added pics to show where the washers go, so others can do it right and get more life out of their digger. (The three washers go in between the moving parts of the arms, not on the outside of any of the parts.) We will see how long they hold up. I’m not hopeful about it… ... show more

Bought two of these for my friends kids. They are very cute, easy to use, the kids loved them. Putting them together was also super easy. The size is great for kids under 6.
