It's as if screws fell off inside the pump and it restricts the discharge flow immensely. I have to wiggle the hose in order to stop the noise and start the draining... every time. Still satisfied Update after over 6 months of daily use. Today Mar. first of 25': I took it apart and found that coins were in the pump and by all means, my fault. I use this almost daily for my clothes, work towels and I washed about 10-12pair of milwaukee gloves and they were beyond filthy. This little machine continues to chug along and I've saved so much $ and trips to the laundromat I'm still happy. Another feature that I didn't mention, or know at the moment but if you forget your filling it for whatever reason, my heart sank when I realized and seen it full to the brim,,,,, both sides full but the drain was working great so I want to say thank you for the overflow feature that's been there.

The wash cycle is wonderful. Very powerful and quiet. Gets the job done! After washing you drain the water and refill to rinse the clothes. Drain again and then spin. This is not an auto washing machine! The Spin basket only holds one item or two smaller items. The spin cycle is ok. This unit gets the job done and is perfect for travel, dorm or apt. use. This is a very nice and well made little washer for small items like underware, or 1-2 T-shirts at a time. I would not fill in more than first or the second. It’s OK for you (like myself), if you do not want to wash your panties in the public laundry machine where people might wash their sneakers and worse. As for drying, i’d rather stay away from this cycle and rinse the clothes with my hands as the machine makes much noise. Besides, the drying basket does not often stay in place. It goes off and hits the walls of the machine. As for its cover or a lid, it’s a waste of time and plastic: it has no lock and jumps off the basket immediately. You will have to stop the machine to remove it. As for drying quality i cannot say anything yet, as i switched it on for 5 min, the basket jumped off the rail and i had to stop the process. But i will keep it and use it. Why, See the above reason. 😀

If you follow the instructions this works great. As far as any water leaking, I put this in my bathtub so no worries there. Bought this because the laundry at my complex was terrible. I feel like my clothes are cleaner with this unit as opposed to the units at my complex I have to pay for. Once I get my portable dryer I will update how well they go together. Hopefully this saves me $10-$15 weekly for laundry. Please note that the small basket is just for the spin cycle. The smaller the spin cycle, the less likely you will have issues. You wash in the tub itself. As one person said the smaller the amount of laundry detergent the better. I use tablets and just quarter them. Update: I think because I never saw the drainage water I never knew this but now I'm wondering if my clothes were ever really clean using other washers. I rinse twice, just like rice till the water is mostly clear. I'm still working out how to load the spin out cycle right so that it's not imbalanced but otherwise it's still working great. Would be really cool if there was a basket you could buy that expands so you can do full size bath towels.

I bought this because it has a spin cycle, and many of my hand wash items are labeled for spin drying. This item has 2 design flaws that make me wish I had purchased the Oxo Good Grips manual salad spinner: The mode selection knob progresses from Off to Wash and then to Spin. Off should have been located between Wash and Spin. This requires either unplugging the machine (frequently) or forcing the timer knob in the wrong direction related to design flaw 2: The only thing holding the spin basket on the spinner is 4 small tabs engaged by the spinning action. I have not yet been successful in spin drying even one wet item alone, because the basket is always uncontrollably unbalanced to some degree, flys off the spinning mechanism easily, and I need to force the machine into Off mode by transiting through wash mode and prolonging the chaos, or as mentioned above, I find it more safe to only increment the timer by about 1 minute, help anchor the whole device with my body weight to help stabilize the spin basket on the spinning mechanism (any rocking tends to immediately throw the spin basket off), and spin until I need to reset to whole thing. One T-shirt takes me 10 minutes of constant monitoring and resetting. So for spin drying, this is not a worthwhile or safe device. I do not expect it to last long and I abhor using it.
