This penguin robot kit is truly amazing! This design is completely original, and nothing is like it out there. I saw that the penguin bot was one of elegoo’s newer products, so I decided to give it a try. It looked like it would be fun to assemble and an entertaining small robot. It’s so much more than just an entertaining small robot. This penguin bot includes numerous modes: dancing mode, music playing mode, obstacle avoidance mode, and following mode. The instructions actually come in a physical manual, unlike many other robot kits. It even comes with a CD to help you learn how to code it and understand the code. Overall, the assembly was smooth. All the parts came in labeled bags, which helped the assembly go by quicker. The parts are sturdy and will not easily break. The manual also shows you the different modes and how to use the remote control. It is nice that they require AAA batteries- not 18650 batteries that you must purchase only online. Once the assembly was finished, I started it up. Instantly, it started up and did a little dance with a short song. Then you could control the robot with your control and watch it waddle. It balanced and doesn’t fall over unless you physically push it down. One of the best parts of this is that it is fully customizable- you can customize the code completely! And also, you can change the look of it- it comes with 6 face masks- 2 DIY and 4 premade. This kit also came with many extra parts, just in case you loose some or somehow break them, which was useful. The case it came in was also very handy- it also has an orange handle. Setting up this robot was easy and fun! Shortly after however I noticed that a motor was broken. I contacted Elegoo and they responded to me quickly and sent a new motor without charge which I greatly appreciated. I'd definitely recommend this product to anyone.

This is a great little robot to build. Should take about two hours to build. The app works perfectly and the robot is super cute. Instructions on how to build it are good, and there's also a youtube video which shows how to build it, so I followed both the manual and the video and it was rather easy. The only issue is the tiny screws. There are about 25 screws to work with, and they're tiny and it gets confusing, which ones to use where. If you get this kit, don't disregard the screws, because if you miss one or two, or lose them, you may not be able to build it properly. Other than that, it's pretty awesome. ... show more

Writing this to call out how great the support team is for this product. Got this as a gift for my son and figured we'd build it together. That all worked out great, some stuff was a little hard for him, but that's were the "build it together" part came in. Finished it with no trouble at all. Installed the app on my sons phone, was able to control the robot with no trouble. The app was really easy to follow except for one minor thing, I'll talk about that later. Once the robot started walking, one leg was tipping him too far over. Tried re calibrating the servos, but nothing seemed to help. Sent a note off to their support, they were super quick to respond. They gave me suggestions on how to do additional calibration with the app. This is the part that i may have missed. It wasn't obvious in the app, but again, I probably skipped over the directions after it started working. But, no big deal, the support team was really nice, and sent easy to follow directions on how to do the additional calibration. Once we did this, the little robot was walking fine with no issues. Additionally, the quality of the product is really nice, all the parts were there and fit together well. Even the instructions were really easy (assuming you don't skip any). Almost felt like putting together a Lego kit. Over all, I think we were all happy with this, my son with his gift working correctly, me with my son being happy and support with us being happy with our product. ... show more

This was a difficult robot. I have a son who is very cautious. To get a robot that he couldn't complete because of something that wasn't his fault is really sad. The wires to two motors are very flimsy and not attached well. Wires came apart so easy. We thought it was something on his end. When I came to help him out on the second motor...we saw that the wires were already out. So disappointed in the product. we will be returning it. ... show more

This is another well thought well designed Elegoo product with outstanding documentation. It does have many small parts for you to work with while assembly but everything is quality made and assembles very well. Elegoo even put some extra nuts and other small parts on their bags (which are clearly labeled and match step by step instructions). The only additional thing Id like this to have is header connectors on the main PCB other than the ones there to attach sensors and servo motors, so if users would like, could add new hardware and customize their robot in different ways beyond the intended original design. At the end, that is what the Arduino community is about, right? Customize, modify, experiment. But all in all a little great product. And kudos to Elegoo for coming out with this original design. Not that robot cars are bad, but every similar vendor has them. This robot seems to be a true original from this company. Well done! ... show more
