Got this as a gift for my friend's kid who is interested in music, especially the drums. The parents, understandably, didn't have the money for a classic set (and they likely weren't fond of the noise it could produce). When I saw this, I knew it would be perfect. An intro to drums with volume control for someone who could discover if the drums were really for them or not. I'm told it was a good purchase and they are still banging away at them. They absolutely love that he can plug his headphones into it as well so they don't have to hear anything. Overall, it was a good gift and they can safely recommend it.

This gets beat on, stepped on, trampled, moved from place to place, enjoyed often....by 4 excited, energetic, (powerfully expressive?) and musically inclined children (ages 12 and younger)... And it has been GREAT! I've seen soooo many of these things, and for this current price of $46, it is SO EASY to fully recommend to anyone. It seems accurately responsive, holding up so well, no errors or malfunctions and seems to be asking for more. I, for one, (while thinking this price is ALREADY awesome and very competitive) will be watching during these upcoming holiday sales blitzes to get another one (or two) at an irresistible price--although I'm not overly sure what that is! lol

This is a great drumkit for beginners. It's portable and you can roll it out pretty much anywhere. It's silicone and easy to store. The drumheads are very responsive and in pretty good intuitive positions. This model comes with two pedals that plug in via one small stereo cable. There are other inputs/outputs as well that make available the possibility of external speakers, a microphone, as well as the ability to use this with headphones (a must for parents like me!) The pedals are really the only negative I have with this set. They are lightweight and kinda cheap. When you step on them, the machine tends to "double click" them resulting in either a double high-hat or double base. So that's annoying. I have no idea how to upgrade these with my own since two medals join into one plug. There is a bass drum "pad" on the machine, but I think it is best for my son to get used to using the pedal. The only other kinda downside is that, if you are lefthanded (like myself), you are kinda screwed b/c you can't map the pads....so it makes it hard to play. But us 10%-of-the-world Southpaws are kinda used to that I guess. all-in-all this is a great starter kit for anyone with kids that wants to see if they enjoy the drums, like we are doing. The headphones are a major plus. We really enjoy this and our son does too!

I'll be honest, I've been a drummer for 40 years and I love this little roll-up drum set. It's not going to replace a real drumset, that is for sure, but it is a lot of fun to play around with. I've even thought of taking this to a rehearsal if space and/or volume was limited, it would probably work! The sticks are garbage, way too short and light, suitable only for children. But the pad itself is durable and well made, the drums are colorfully marked, and in pretty good positioning, giving you a 5-piece drum set with 2 crash cymbals, high-hats, and a ride cymbal. There is a great variety of different drum sounds, and the built-in songs/rhythms are nothing to write home about, but still fun to play along with. Tempo and volume are easily controlled by soft rubber push buttons on the control panel, which is also where you start/stop songs, change sounds, record yourself, etc. Two speakers at the top of the unit are terrible, they clip and crackle unless the volume is way down. This set is best heard either using decent headphones OR plugging it into an amplifier (I did this with a 1/8" mini stereo to a 1/4" stereo cord). Coming through an amp this thing really rocks! The pads are responsive, I can do double-stroke rolls, fast fills, etc., although there is no touch sensitivity so the volume is always the same. Another great find is that this unit is truly polyphonic - meaning more than one pad can sound at once. In fact, I was able (using sticks held flat) to sound 4 pads at the same time, hearing all 4 voices at once - not too shabby! Besides the speakers and the sticks, the pedals are the set's other weak spot. Obviously a real drum pedal would be cost prohibitive, so there are two cheapie plastic keyboard pedals to trigger the bass drum and close the high hats. I haven't given them too much of a workout, but I'd imagine these cheap pedals would be the first thing to go on this set. I don't want to forget to mention my favorite thing about this set - it's USB rechargeable so you can take it anywhere! I have it on a TV tray next to my electronic drum set, and plugged into the same amplifier. It's a lot of fun to jam with the songs, or use the pads as extra voices for my drum set. The kids absolutely love to play with it when they're over. For less than 60 dollars, this drum set will provide a lot of entertainment for kids, adults, amateur or pro drummers, or anyone who enjoys some drumming fun. Love it!
