Excellent sound can be much more than just a toy
I am a former percussionist (high school) who wanted to get back into it in my later years but did not have the space or want to spend the money for a electronic kit until I felt I would keep at it. While it may look a bit toyish this thing ended up being everything I wanted it to be. No batteries to change since they are rechargeable and USB. The charge lasts an incredible long time. The sound is very realistic and with the external jack I can cover songs from my phone etc. and it matches up well. I am fairly fast with my rudiments, rolls etc and the thing keeps up with me not missing a beat. The only thing it does not do well is capture the intensity of the beats hard or soft will give you the same sound. The pedals for the kick and hi-hat are a bit lacking but they work and are functional so I consider it fortunate that is has them so it better simulates a real set. The headphone jack is essential since I don't want to bother others in the house. The sticks that come with it however are basically toys, so I highly suggest getting better sticks if you are not buying as a toy for a kid. Great Drumset for learning!
I will start off by saying this drum pad is great! I am a complete beginner to learning the drums, never played or even touched an actual drumset before and I feel like with my implemented solutions this replicated my idea of an actual drumset pretty well. My usage with this pad is mainly via the usb passthrough. I hooked up the drumpad to my computer via the USB and used programs such as EZDRUMMER 3 and Clone Hero. This pad IS GREAT for playing games such as Clone Hero, the triggers are clear and rarely ever misinput. If you keep your stick on the pad too long you may register extra inputs otherwise it's perfectly fine. The built in speakers and drumset sounds are mediocre at best and leave you wanting more. That's why I installed EZDRUMMER 3 to handle all the drumset sounds. Early on when you use the drumset the speakers may sound like they're dying when you play, just keep charging the pad and over time they'll sound better but never great. The footpedals for the kick drum and hihat choking perform well. Early on when I was learning to use the kick-pedal I would press the pedal softly and it wouldn't register hits well, and would even introduce additional trigger hits. Once I learned how to properly hit the foot pedal the additional inputs stopped. The pedals handle fast and hard movements surprisingly well. Pros: -MIDI Passthrough for playing games such as Clone Hero, or for Music Production. -Registers hits very well and rarely ever misses. You'll be more likely to register an extra hit before it doesn't register a hit. Cons: -Built In-Speakers are not the greatest but they do alright. -Drumstyles and sounds aren't that great. Would recommend using the USB passthrough and utilizing third party software such as EZDRUMMER. -Pedals have rubber underneath to stop sliding which work for softer playing but anything requiring consistently fast pedal usage they begin to slip and move. I had to tape my pedals down to the floor to stop them from moving. I would recommend this to people who are looking to learn the drums at an affordable price. Games such as Clone Hero are a great learning tool that allow you to practice and play to your favorite songs. If you can get your hands on EZDRUMMER or a DAW to handle the drum sounds it'll greatly improve your experience playing. ... show more

Okay, this isn't as good as having the real thing. But, who can afford a REAL drum kit with all of the components in this practice kit? Who has the room to just set it up and leave it? I got this set, so I could download some 'how to' videos and see if I can actually learn to play the drums. So far, I have learned that I do have a good sense of rhythm and can actually do different things with my left and right hands (I'm not really ambidextrous. But, there is a flow that I can follow). The kit has good sound quality, from the included stereo speakers. It also has a 'line out' jack so you can add a headphone set or your own speaker. Like I did in the demo. This kit is very versatile. Many different sound types, rhythms, speeds, etc. It will record your tracks. The kick and cymbal pedals don't really mimic the real deal as far as how it feels. But, if you get past that and just focus on the sound, you're great. The line in jack is great, for adding your own music to play to. I don't know if I will ever get good enough to play the drums at our church services. But, that's my goal. And, I know that this kit will help me get far. Good purchase. ... show more

Excellent practice tool if you don’t have a real kit
Just got this but my 14 year old drummer is loving it. We don’t have a real kit at home. This allows him to practice with something a little better than a single snair and pillows! Can’t say yet how durable but he’s excited about how portable it is and getting more realistic sounds with his practice playing. ... show more

Notice how they don't put much about the game software on there. Or talk about HOW PRECISELY this thing interfaces with a PC. (This one doesn't, but you can't find that out without deductive reasoning) Come to find out, there is a Bluetooth model. This isn't it. That's important to know. I have screenshots of the video games and images clearly showing children playing those games on a MONITOR or TV, suggesting a desktop or television environment. The reality is, the vendors of this kit anticipate that most will give up on the features after trying to plug it in, or seeing there isn't a lot of instruction. Those that will try further will read that the only way for this thing to properly bind the edrums to whatever virtual controls you'll use can ONLY be accomplished through Bluetooth! (Call cap on this and I'll shove the photograph of the SECOND copy of the manual I got saying otherwise directly into your face-hole. Please try me.) Y'all see them mention this WASN'T the Bluetooth model anywhere? or that it was a necessary component for the games that they were advertising on this product page IF THIS WAS the non-bluetooth option?? My favorite, for a lack of better words, part is - even if you happen to have the Bluetooth version, it doesn't matter! The actual vendor (in a pretty snarky way, I might add) replied to a buyer about using a game BASED on a now-decomissioned mobile app developed by Yamaha YEARS AGO. Bro WHAT. Tell me you're not playing some out of pocket, shady game, without telling me. Oh by the way- most app store based environments that are going to have the computational or OS capacity to be able to be compatible with that aren't on PC monitors or TVs. Most TV app stores are extremely limited. You're playing this game on a tablet at best. Better get your kid some glasses or contacts early cause they're gonna be squinting. Also, since the software is unavailable and defunct, you can't put it on Apple devices without jailbreaking. And to add salt to the wound, the clod suggested that the person try DTXmania, which is a fan-made re-port of some of the DTX games by Yamaha by some Japanese dev hobbiests. Which tbh it looks pretty well maintained, but honestly. That's a PC app, and this is a non-bluetooth device. I seriously doubt anyone has even tried to get this far with the drum kit. Are you feeling me here yet? So, if you're looking to buy this ekit with the expectations that you'll be able to have ur loved one try the learning software, then I suggest you leave those at the door. If you want another run of the mill ekit just like all the others, I'll tell you to get a cheaper model from a younger, sexier competitor. Cause it's clear this vendor is fat, complacent, and sloppy in their application of completely obtuse judgment and/or pure laziness to apply a little bit of QA to their copy paste product details. I'm sure if the vendor even possesses an ounce of humility they'll probably be questioning "but what did I do? Everyone does this!" To which I'll say. Be the example, rat out your competitors and steal their competition when they fail. It's obvious the business practices aren't regulated by this country'slaw, so it would seem to me that these international businesses are in a unique position to be front runners if they're willing to be filthy rats. I mean, it wouldn't be a big shift in the corporate culture. Instead of being rats to the consumer, they could be rats to their competition. Food for thought. Here's what's probably going to happen (you can check all that apply)(this can also be a fun game of bingo... Grab ur cards, ppl. Let's see what we get!!) 1. They gaslight the absolute daylights out of me, making it seem like I didn't do appropriate research. 4. They remove the screenshots of the gaming 5. They update the wording to be more concise 6. They are explicit in explaining that the non Bluetooth version CANNOT play games 7. They remove the product from Amazon 7a. They rebrand the boxes, and assume a new business alias and remarket because thats what these businesses do (vote for your representatives ppl, pls stop selling us out for someone else's bottom line) 8. They remove anything about the game software or explicitly mention that you will have to go thru some really obtuse means or installing games from untrusted third party sources OUTSIDE of their OS environments. 9. They do nothing because they're doing the thing from Jurassic Park where if they stand still the Trex will go away. Typical laissez-faire. But hey that's the "hand of the free market" Am I right guys?... Guys? 10. Bonus: they're gonna cherry pick from what I said to try to make it seem like I'm being critical of them and not their methodologies. My bet is given with enough time, they'll do all of these things. Probably more than once. Hell, these products are probably rehashed from previous gens that got returned. I'm not returning this or replying to anything. My nephew likes banging on the drum and I will find a way to teach and bond with him without the whispers of sweet nothings this company sold me. I can only be so mad tho, these people can't feel shame when they feel justified in what they're doing. It doesn't matter who they hurt because of how much the world hurt them to need to survive in a world that wasn't supplied with the same kind of overindulgent abundance the US is forced to eat every day. Product not great but customer service was fine
It quickly lost functionality but was replaced. The second one now glitches and restarts itself unless played at volume 1
