I have a large WEN drill press in my garage/shop But it's just too clunky for any fine work (chuck not true, bearing play, table not true. It would be fine for wood work, but lousy for any precision drilling. I've looked for a long time for a little drill press Like this for small. precision work in aluminum, mostly. It's highly adjustable once you figure it out (there are no instructions). The little chuck runs very true. I've been able to do some things I could NEVER do with the big drill press. in the future, for bigger stuff, I can drill a precision pilot hole with this little guy, then maybe the Wen can follow it & I'll have a hole where I want it. ... show more

I absolutely love this little drill press. Fantastic little machine for drilling holes in soft metals like silver, copper, brass aluminum. I also purchased a small drill press vice/clamp for the top and have individual blocks of wood made for each drill bit that I use in the press. This block brings my work up closer to the bit and requires less action to drill my holes. The press is whisper quiet and has plenty of power for soft metals and wood. If you use this machine for its intended purpose you will not be disappointed. Why did you pick this product vs others?: I needed a really small drill press and this fit the bill. Value for money: Works great for the money, surprisingly well made for the money. Drill quality: Almost all the parts are metal and the stops work well. I have used it for over an hour at a stretch with no problems. The media could not be loaded. I purchased this for lapidary work after trying a dremel free-hand and with a press and a larger drill press. This drill press works great for that purpose and the price was right. I was quickly able to get perfect holes in 10 cabochons of hardness 7+ stones. There is no wobble at all even when starting the hole in the stone, the ability to adjust the height is easy, the handle is smooth, the variable speed is helpful, and it is very quiet. As others have noted, there are not good instructions. There was not much to assemble except the cover over the belt. But better instructions about how to do the various settings would be appreciated. I don't want to miss any good features. For drilling the stones, I am using good quality hollow cord diamond drill bits and some quality cutting lubricant added in drops. I bought this small drill press to use with various craft projects that I do from time to time. It appears to be well made and I tested it out this morning, and found it will be useful. There are no instructions that come with it, save a note forbidding you to use gloves when you operate it. Fortunately, there are several youTube videos that demonstrate its operation.     • Great precision drill for jewelry needs
I'm loving this little drill. It gives me the accuracy I need with the ability to control the drill speed. While it didn't come with instructions it was pretty easy to figure out how to use. It's not an all purpose work horse. It's more suited for delicate and/or precise drilling needs. I've been using it for drilling 1-2 millimeter holes in sterling silver. I plan to use it for drilling 1 millimeter holes in semiprecious gemstones. I love it. I apparently didn't submit my initial review (above). So after using it for a couple of months I can safely say that I love this little drill. I'm able to safely and accurately drill tiny holes with absolute control.
