  • I LOVE KERI LAKE. Read her books.
Format: Hardcover
I gave anathema 5 stars, I’m giving this one 4.5. But it ripped me to shreds. While anathema is super fast paced, has expansive lore and world building and a lot of dark tension and hints to painful traumatic pasts for each character, Eldritch takes those traumatic pasts and burrows each and every one into your soul. This book is detailed, gruesome, heartbreaking, devastating and so so dark. It brings you into the shadows of each person and nestles you deep into what makes them who they are. The story took on a bit of a psychological thriller vibe when revisiting a lot of zevanders story and answered a lot of lingering questions while popping up more. I’m rating it a bit lower because while I still LOVE the plot, the depth of the characters and the details in the lore I felt like this one I was clinging on to the backstory chapters for answers and less so caring about what was happening in the present time until towards the end. I did however personally love the addition of khazimirs pov since they are separated it gave good insight to the side characters and also kept the plot moving in both worlds Raivox continues to be my favorite. Check your trigger warnings and if you don’t like spiders pls opt out because I still feel like things are crawling on me. Keri lake thinks so creepily and I’m here for it. ... show more

  • Love the story, don’t love when pages fall out!
Format: Paperback
The book is great, I loved Anathema and this one so far! However, I’m only on page 253 and there are white a bit of pages coming out of the book. I’m not sure if the hard covers are the same, but I have the paper back and I’m not loving the fear of losing pages from a book I planned on keeping and possibly rereading. ... show more

  • Dark and Enchanting✨
Format: Paperback
I’m so glad Keri Lake decided to change Eating Woods from a duology to a trilogy. Even though it was extremely hard to read at times, the backstory of Zevander also feels extremely important to his character and to understanding the entire plot of the story. The pieces that came together in this book happened seamlessly and set us up for book 3. Not to mention, the dark fantasy, gothic, and overall creepy visuals are top notch. No one does it like Keri Lake. ... show more

  • Phenomenal! 🤩 A must read!!!
Format: Kindle
Eldritch (The Eating Woods, #2) by Keri Lake “That isn’t survival. It’s surrender. And at what expense? Better to die fighting, than live shackled.” 5⭐️ 2🌶️ Just phenomenal! The Keri Lake’s storytelling is amazing! And the way you are immersed into this dark, creepy world full of gods, magic, monsters and emotional trauma. It’s just top tier storytelling in my opinion. This book compared to “Anathema “ was definitely more character driven and focused more on “Zevander’s” brutal past. You really get to experience who Zevander really is, and it’s both heart wrenching and terrifying. Zevander as a MMC is just a top tier “book boyfriend “ and the way he would burn 🔥 the world down for Maevyth. 🥹 Just the perfect representation of the “fated mates” trope. Maevyth’s really grows in this book and I absolutely adore her character. She watches her sister and Zevander descend into madness . But will stop at nothing to free them of it. She also starts to embrace the “blood magic “ that inhabits her. The “throat whistle/dragon caller” ability she possesses is just brilliant! This scene when gets this ability made me chuckle 🤭 And let’s not forget half dragon/half bird “Raivox” who is Maevyth’s savior on multiple occasions! He made be stubborn but he’s definitely one of favorite characters in this book! Overall this book was everything I expected! It definitely filled all the missing pieces from the previous book and I really excited for the conclusion of this captivating story! And the cliffhanger ending was just 😮 and I’m really hoping “ General Loyce”gets the karma she deserves! “To be fair, your chivalry, however dark and morbid and brimming with lunacy it may have been, warmed my heart. No one has ever offered to destroy the world for me.” “I’m nothing if not fiendishly and soullessly chivalrous.”🖤 ... show more

  • Back to the Eating Woods we go
Format: Kindle
What I loved: ZEVANDER. Past Zevander. Present Zevander. All the Zevander. My heart beats for this tortured man and getting his back story while extremely heartbreaking to read was absolutely needed to move this story forward. We see him standing strong even in the face of his tormentors. We see him broken. We see him bleeding. We see him on his knees for Maevyth. Sometimes I wonder if she deserves him. We see how their fates were interwoven long before they met. It was beautiful in its bleakness. What I didn’t love: This book is broken down into multiple time periods and POVs and getting into the rhythm and cadence of the book was jarring. It took a while before I really felt what KL was trying to achieve. We didn’t need a large portion of the events that occurred in the present time period for Zevander and Maevyth. It made the pacing feel disjointed and the writing a bit clunky. This felt like a case of an author thinking they have to wrap up every teeny tiny plot point and character when really doing so added little to the overall story. I also just wanted more from Maevyth in general. I loved her acceptance and understanding of Zevander but I wanted more rage and feeling on her part. The majority of the main points of this book are getting Zevander’s past as a slave and the relationship developing between the two of them. Some questions were answered along the way especially about Maevyth’s true identity. The ending is a brutal and diabolical cliffhanger. Overall I loved Anathema so much more but will be waiting impatiently for book 3 because I know Zevander and Maevyth’s wrath and reckoning are coming and I can’t wait to experience it. ... show more
