Very frustrating when I realized the holes on this plate didn't match the Nest Thermostat. The 1st picture shows your plate over Nest's plate. (The Nest Plate wasn't wide enough to cover the area that I needed, so I bought yours.) Holes aren't close enough to work. Screws could not be forced to work. I had to drill holes in your plate, for it to work. Drilling into plastic wasn't easy. Not happy with your product. Wasted an hour of my time with this. I saved $1 by buying your product vs the Nest product. Lesson learned? You bet! ... show more

Simple enough and probably better than the Nest branded plate. Here are the salient points: Packaging: Not the sturdiest or best. Just a thin box with the plate, easily bent and crushed. Mine came in a padded envelope and the playe box had been through some rough handling. Quality: The plate is a bit thinner than preferred so it does have a little bow in it. It didn’t sit 100% flush with my wall. For the price, they could have made it thicker and sturdier to aboid this warp. Install: it fits exact to the Nest 2020 thermostat. The screw holes overlap. I would have preferred a metal plate to which this was attacked to get it flatter against the wall but I can live with it. Aesthetic: I bought this to cover the white, non-painted area where my old thermostat sat...super annoying that as technology changes, the shapes cause slight aesthetic issues to deal with. Overall: A good buy. The white is closely matched to the Nest snow color. Get this vs the branded one. ... show more

Recently purchased the latest google nest and was surprised to cut cost they didn't come with a back plate to cover unpainted walls. This fit the bill and worked perfectly. I would disregard what another person said about it not working, it fit the holes perfectly. One addition that would make install easier probably would be if it included 3m tape to attach the nest terminal plate to the elago plate, as such installing was slightly awkward holding both together till I got a screw threaded back in. All in all, I can just say it looks nice and it worked as expected. ... show more

This is simply a piece of plastic that likely cost a few cents to manufacture. Really, there is nothing special about it but that being said, it does the job and looks nice on the wall. It was big enough to cover the holes left by my old thermostat and the cost was worth it not to have to calk and paint. I wish it came with hardware...then I would have given it 5 stars. ... show more

    • No More Nest Thermos also Disappointed in Amazon

I previous to this had great experiences with two NEST thermostats I bought for my home and summer home. The upstairs zone on my summer home had a conventional thermostat so I thought I would install another NEST. I ordered it but did not have a chance to go to this home for a some time. When I did go to the house, I got involved with other projects so it was sometime before I got to install it. It was VERY painful. I meticulously tried everything REPEATEDLY and it would not run. Error message said there was no RED wire. I got my HVAC technician to check it out and he could not do it but charged me $110 for the service. I finally re-wired the old thermostat (a Honeywell) and it is working fine. Clearly, the NEST is defective but I have no recourse but to eat it. I am disappointed with both NEST and Amazon. NEST for not giving me a way to be made whole for a defective product and Amazon for a somewhat restrictive return window. If found a Honeywell Smart WiFi Thermostat and does NOT require me to rewire the old Honeywell wall plate. So I am out literally HOURS of my time, $110 for the HVAC guy and the cost of the Thermostat and pricey cover plate. ... show more

First thing this thin piece of plastic should not cost $15. The manufacturer has you over a barrel because they know your fancy new thermostat doesn’t come with a trim kit and the one made by Nest is ugly. This piece of plastic is easy enough to install and it does it’s job of covering up the hole and messy paint where the thermostat wires come out from the wall. Mine didn’t sit flush against the wall though and you can see a very small gap. Other than that it gets the job done. ... show more

I ordered the one from Google. It did not look nearly as nice as this. It did not create a flush mount to the wall like this one does. So...forego the Google one and spring for this one a you’ll be very happy with the end result.
