🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Ecoflow Delta Mini Portable Power Station is generally well-received by users. It's appreciated for its relatively compact size, quick device charging capabilities, and ability to power small appliances for a substantial period during emergencies. The unit can also be recharged quickly from a wall plug, and its solar panel effectively harnesses the sun's power, though heavily weather-dependent.

Pros

  • 🔋 Powering capability: Powers small appliances and charges multiple devices efficiently.
  • ☀ Solar charging: EcoFlow 160-watt solar panel effectively harnesses sunlight, although performance may vary based on weather conditions.
  • 💼 Portability: Compact and easy to transport due to its light weight (around 20 lbs).
  • 📲 App functionality: The corresponding app works seamlessly with the unit.

Cons

  • ⚠ Lack of warning: The unit does not provide an audible warning prior to shutting down after battery depletion.
  • 📈 Unreliable power estimation: The estimated runtime on the display (and in the app) can be inaccurate. Calibration may be required periodically.
  • 💡 Potentially misleading advertising: Inverter efficiency (70%) means actual power delivery might be less than the advertised 882-watt-hours.

Should I Buy It?

If you're looking for a portable and reliable power backup for emergencies that can charge multiple devices and power small appliances for a substantial period, the EcoFlow Delta Mini Portable Power Station is a solid choice. However, take note of potential issues such as the lack of a warning before power shut down and the unit’s inverter efficiency which might provide less power than advertised. Overall, it seems to deliver on most of its promises, providing reliable emergency backup power.

  • Works as expected. Very satisfied.
Style: DELTA MINI
My experience with the purchase of the Ecoflow Delta Mini started out being frustrating, but ultimately the unit met my expectations fully. My desire for a portable power station was for a backup power solution in the event of emergencies. I wanted a unit that would be able to recharge our devices as well as small appliances for a substantial period without access to home electrical power. Another requirement was the ability to recharge the battery unit from a solar panel in case the power did not come back in a reasonable period of time. After some research, I settled on the Ecoflow brand and the Delta Mini as the model that could suit my basic needs while remaining within my budget. I initially purchased the Ecoflow Delta Mini listed at $799 with a $50 discount coupon upon checkout. I also purchased an Ecoflow 160 watt solar panel to accompany the battery unit for $349. I was pleased to receive both items within a few days of the order. Unfortunately, the Delta Mini I received did not work properly. The unit would charge up when plugged in and I could charge devices from it, but the power button (on/off) did not work. After shutting down from inactivity, the unit would only become active again if plugged back into the wall. Not good if you need to use the device but have no access to a working power plug. I called Ecoflow and after a short evaluation by the operator and an email, they agreed that the unit was defective and arranged for a shipping label for return and eventually replacement. Unfortunately, the process to receive a new unit would take several weeks. To avoid such a long wait, I sent the defective unit back and ordered a second unit from Amazon. The new unit arrived a couple of days later. Not long after, my defective unit got back to the factory and I was issued a full refund. Minor frustration, but the company made it right. As for the Ecoflow Delta Mini, it works as expected and very well at that. I tested it with the devices that I planned to power it with and found that it charged up multiple devices via the USB outlets at the expected rates. Even fast charging those phones via the one USB that has that capability. The unit also powered small appliances (albeit with significant drain of the battery). I tested a 1500 watt electric kettle with 1.7 liters of water, and was able to get a full boil in 6 minutes with about 16-18% batter drain at each attempt. The same test with 1.7 liters of water on a single burner 1200 watt hot plate took 13 minutes to a full boil and drained 36% of the battery. A test of keeping a 7 cu. foot freezer alive overnight (12 hours) gave me a 60% drain of the battery. All in all, interesting results. It meets my needs, but be aware that if you hope to power more appliances for a longer period of time you will need one of the bigger and more expensive units. As for recharging, the Delta Mini charged up very quickly from the wall plug. It only takes an hour or so to top up from the 50-60% area to full. When it’s really low (below 30%) you might need up to two hours to get a full charge. I was impressed with the solar panel. It was listed at 160 watts, and with full sunlight it gave exactly that. As the clouds passed by it dipped a bit (103, 137, etc.) but as long as the sun was strong it was plugging right along. However whenever the clouds blocked the sun, the output dropped all the way down. Sometimes in the 24-77 watt range, but often at zero. Keep that in mind, as the weather of the day will affect how much re-charge you will get. My test day had strong sun, but with periods that the clouds passed over and blocked it completely. All told, in that session it took me 1 hour to gain a 10% charge on the battery. If you are going to rely on the sun to get your battery from 0 to 100, expect it to take all day if it gets there at all. Perhaps a second (expensive) panel might make that more realistic. Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase as well as the response by customer service to my issues. ... show more

  • Nice, Well-Built Unit and Good Customer Service
Style: DELTA MINI
I originally gave this unit 1 star because it did not last very long under a small 70-watt load (original review below). After seeing my review, EcoFlow reached out and provided suggestions to calibrate it, which did not fix the problem. After reporting this to them, EcoFlow provided a replacement, including a prepaid return label. The new unit came quickly and works as expected. The runtime is now closer to the theoretical runtime based on the 882-watt-hour rating. The Good: - This is a nice, compact, well-built unit. It is not very heavy (about 20lbs or so) and is very easy to transport. - The App works very well when compared to apps for other IOT devices. - It provides the expected runtime ONLY once the inefficiencies of the inverter are accounted for. While troubleshooting the original unit, EcoFlow indicated the inverter is about 70 percent efficient at the load I was using and that I should not expect it to deliver the full runtime expected from an 882-watt-hour device. When load-testing the replacement unit, it ran for over 70 percent of the calculated time based on the 882-watt-hrs advertised. The Not-as-Good: - The unit does not give any audible warning before it shuts down. Once the battery is depleted, it just turns off the AC power outlet with no warning. - The estimated runtime on the display (and in the app) is not accurate. This may be due to battery variations over time which require calibration. Recalibration requires several cycles of running the unit until shutdown and then recharging to 100%. During testing of both the original and replacement units, they ran at 1% of power (as indicated by the display) far longer than predicted. - The misleading advertising for the 882-watt-hour rating should be caveated with the disclaimer that the unit will not actually provide that advertised power due to inefficiencies in the unit itself. I suspect that this type of misleading advertising is common for these types of devices, but that does not make it right. - Since the first unit I received was defective, I worry about the factory QC and long-term durability of these devices. I suspect most people will not load-test the unit as I did and may not know they have a defective device. They may just put it away for an emergency, only to find it does not perform as expected when it is needed. Disclaimer: EcoFlow did provide a $100 credit for my trouble. The credit was issued before I updated the review to 5-stars. Despite that, I have tried to give an unbiased review, although I suspect I would give it only 4-stars had it not been for that. As I continue to use this unit, I will update this review if anything changes. My original review from July 18, 2022: --------------------------------------------- This product advertised as 882 watt-hours should supply 70 watts for around 12 hours. Originally, the app said it would last 7 hours but it started decreasing the time estimate very quickly. The battery was completely drained after less than 2 hours. When I first received it, I let it charge to 100% and then updated the firmware, so it is up to date. Obviously, the batteries in this unit are not as advertised. I will be returning for a refund. ... show more

  • Tiny Size Dynamo Powerstation aka Solar Generator add your own solar panel(s)
Style: DELTA MINI
Already have one of these and current pricing made it easy to pick up another one. Super powerful little powerstation with large inverter power. It is not an LFP battery so be aware of that shorter cycle life but unless you are putting it through a full charge cycle every day it should still last a long time for those of us only charging it maybe once or twice a week. On top of that super nice display and build quality. Sure it would be nice if it accepted say 500W of solar input but at this price 300W max. solar input will still solar charge it to full in a reasonable amount of time. Perfect for backup emergency power of critical items and when teamed up with a small inverter generator to run during the day and this powerstation to use during the evening it is an awesome economical backup solution for critical items. At this price get 2 or 3 they are easy to move around at only about 25 or 27 pounds. As I said I just bought my 2nd one of these at this reduced price. 1400W pure sine AC output and even higher if using the boost feature. Really impressed with build quality and easy use of this Ecoflow Delta Mini. ... show more

  • Much lower than rated capacity
Style: DELTA MINI
Received my Delta Mini today. I liked the size - a good balance of capacity, weight and power. Charged to 95% and then discharged to 5% for a 90% capacity test with a constant 600W resistive load. Only lasted exactly 1 hour. So 90% equals to 600Wh or 100% capacity at 666Wh. If the capacity is truly 882Wh, then that puts the AC inverter at 75.5% efficiency but typical pure sine wave inverters with 1000VA power output are 85% efficient or better. ... show more
