  • Skid plate on a 2018 Skid plate on a 2018
Fit perfect on a 2018. Took me just under an hour by myself. I just laid down on the ground and used my forearm to hold it in place to set screws. Well worth it. I was missing one oil filter screw but I had another similar screw so it really wasn’t a big deal. I also prefer not having “turd” logos on my truck(trd). 😝 ... show more

  • You might want to read this first
I suspect that most of the knock-off TRD skid plates are about the same. This one had a few production defects. Words to the wise. Double check the rivet nuts. I had to seat them with a rivet nut tool. The last thing you want is to have that sucker spinning when you try to take off the filter cover. That would absolutely ruin your day. They obviously don’t inspect these things. I also had a crack where they pressed the recessed bolt hole. I don’t think that would affect the stability of the plate. One last comment. If you are putting this on a truck that’s been running on the road or trail for a while; you are going to have rust in those bolt holes. Tap them with a M12 1.25 (it’s an odd size not included in most sets). The bolts are powder coated. They are pretty but it makes for a tight fit. You might have to run a die on them. And yes, anti seize the holes or the bolts. Sooner or later you are going to need to drop the plate to work on your truck. All things considered, I’m not sure it was worth the trouble since it’s never on the trails. It does look nice. I sprayed it with Rustoleum bed liner. (That stuff ain’t cheap. Took 2 cans.) It may be an easy install for some. I found it to be a pain on the ass. Those bolt holes are a bear to get aligned. I used a jack as my helper. Line up the plate on the jack point. Do the front bolts and the back bolts first. It’s a lot of fun. Hope this makes it easier for the next person. ... show more

  • Happy with it Happy with it
Arrived in good shape, quality looks good. One of the bolt holes was misaligned by about a half inch so I slotted the hole with a carbide burr, not too big of a deal. Overall very happy with the skid plate at this price point. Looks great

  • Doesn't fit without drilling/filing. Find a better quality alternative.
This struck out on almost every category. Poorly packaged, I was lucky I didn't lose the hardware bag out of the massive holes this plate punched through its shipping box. The holes in the plate do NOT line up. You WILL have to file and drill out some of the mounting holes to get this to fit and it is extremely frustrating, This needs to be at a significantly lower price point to make up for the hours you will spend reworking this to get it to fit, and it looks bleh in the end. ... show more

  • TRD skid plate minus the TRD Logo. TRD skid plate minus the TRD Logo.
Installed on 2019 and 2021 Tacoma. Perfect fit for both vehicles although instructions could be more instructive. Such as the 4 nuts included is to function as rear spacers. The bolt holes are perfectly aligned to corresponding bolt points. I used a trolley jack to properly docked to the bolt points. It is very easy to cross thread if someone were to aligned using brute strength, unless you have 4 hands per corner. Otherwise this is a great quality skid plate at very bargain price point. Attention to quality is noted on the bolts that has a rust proofing coating. Simply looks great and functional without the tacky label. ... show more

  • Holes do not align, shoddy workmanship, better options Holes do not align, shoddy workmanship, better options
Lucky to get 3-stars for packaging/delivery time. Had a divet in the plate, of course on the visible side?! But I rolled the dice due to cost and got exactly what I paid for...CHEAP! IF YOU BUY, EXPECT REPAIRS, TOOLS, AND EXTRA TIME TO RETURN. Unless you get undamaged one, seems rare though. I'd go with one of the many other brands (KUAFU's Skid Plate was my 2nd opt, but Dermon & LOSTAR feedback is better). Non-oem are just known for fitment issues. Install: 1) Holes do not align. Plan to drill. Back x2 12mm don't line up (uses 13mm socket). 2) Be aware, TRD skid plates do not use the same mount points of the stock covers. There are 4 17mm bolts you must remove/use. See pics. There's 2 brackets ~17.5" apart near the radiator, each has 3 17mm bolts. You'll use the front and back for this skid plate - Leave the middle bolt. Easy! 3) Instructions mostly cover existing plate removal which is dumb. For TRD OR it's so simple, unscrew 8 12mm bolts, duh! Yet 4 pages explain that, but doesn't say which spacer/bolts to use. So....SMALL spacers/bolts go in the FRONT, BIG spacers/bolts for MIDDLE. Back uses 12mm bolts (but again, it's a 13mm socket?!). Hardest part is drilling bigger holes and getting the back lined up. I did this solo with floor jack pretty easily. Wife handed me tools while under truck, which def helps. I was so close to returning this, and still may, because I hate the huge gouge and other imperfections. But after putting it on and off so many times I just don't want to ever mess with this POS again. Reaching cust support was a joke, they specialize in Ebikes, should've been a red flag. ... show more

  • Excellent Skid Plate
This is a very solid skid plate and a good product. I installed this on my 2nd Gen Tacoma 2012, it bolted right on with no issues whatsoever even though this is the 3rd Gen design. Installation took about 45 minutes and I was able to bolt it on without jacking up my vehicle. This is perfect for light/medium off road obstacles, as it’s a decent thickness and covers much more then the stock black skid plates. ... show more

  • Great price, but it comes at a cost Great price, but it comes at a cost
I will start off by saying that I think this skid plate is a good buy and definitely worth the money!m, but it doesn’t come without issues! The savings over the OEM skid plate is worth the hassle involved in getting it to fit as it should! I had two issues with the one I received, first was the two of the rivnuts were loose and needed to be properly tightened and the second was the misaligned mounting holes. I actually had to tighten all four of the rivnuts used to hold the access panel on, but two of them were very loose! If not addressed there is a good possibility that they could spin when trying to remove them during an oil change and you’d really have problems then, so take the time to make sure they’re tight! The major issue was the two front mounting holes were a good 1/4” or more out of alignment and I had to get the die grinder out with a burr bit and make the holes larger toward the rear of the skid plate. It only took a few minutes to address both issues and to me it was worth the $200+ savings over the OEM skid plate! It doesn’t come with the TRD font embossed like some of the OEM ones do, but I just ordered a set of raised decals to put on, but they haven’t came yet, so those will be installed later. All in all I am happy with the purchase and consider the savings well worth the hassles, but I won’t really know how well it’s made until it needed and hopefully it’ll hold up to the task! ... show more
