These plastic trailer fenders, which are dead ringers for the classic Fulton design, offer a clean and professional look that holds up remarkably well against UV rays and road grime without the rust concerns of metal. While they do their job effectively, the most critical thing to remember is that they are not load-bearing straight out of the box. If you plan on using them as a step to hop into a boat or reach into a utility bed, you must install a proper metal support bracket inside the fender that is secured directly to the trailer frame. Without that internal reinforcement, the plastic will likely crack under the weight of a grown adult, as the material is designed for coverage rather than structural support. A unique advantage of this specific design is that they are essentially engineered to be sacrificial in the event of a high-speed blowout. Unlike heavy steel fenders that can be mangled upward and cause significant damage to a boat's hull or the trailer's mounting points during a tire failure, these plastic versions are designed to self-destruct. When a tire shreds, the fender shatters and clears out, absorbing the energy of the flailing rubber rather than transferring that force into the trailer or its cargo. It is a much cheaper and easier fix to replace a $50 plastic shell than it is to repair fiberglass damage or a bent frame

I am very happy to have these fenders installed now on my trailer. They are very reasonably priced, but tough enough to do the job, for sure. For my particular trailer, I was not able to use the brackets supplied, but it was no problem to bore holes in the poly and use lag bolts, spacers and fender washers to fasten the fenders to the wooden box -- perfect. Finally, they really are firm enough to work as steps when needed. I am pleased.

I built an 8 x 5 Utility trailer and needed fenders to keep road debris from flying up when I pulled it. These fenders were exactly what I needed. They are plastic and the box came with everything I needed to mount them except for the bolts for the trailer rails. Installation was easy and once in place , I was pleasantly surprised to see how sturdy they were. Just don't use them as a step-up, and they should last for many years. The low price doesn't reflect on the quality.

For my 5x8 trailer, these seemed to be the best option and fit out there for the money. They look and function great. They are made out of a surprisingly sturdy thick plastic that will not rust. I ended up taking large diameter, stainless washers and bolts to mount these to the trailer. I am 200 pounds and I can sit on the fender without it cracking although I would not recommend this just to give you an idea of how sturdy they are.

I like the way they look except for the defect on one fender. I contacted the company and they offered only a $4 discount. Then they wanted pictures to verify the defect. I sent the pictures and waited to hear back. After long delays in hearing from them, I decided to just return the fenders only to find out that the return date was past. So, now I have a defective fender on my new trailer. Although the fender has a step on top, there is no way it would hold any normal-sized adult without breaking. I mounted the fenders using a 1 1/2 inch wide x 18-inch long piece of aluminum to give it added support. I don't know how they could be any more secure to the trailer but the integrity of the fender is not strong enough to hold any weight. I do not recommend this product. I wish I had purchased metal fenders.
