I watched so many youtube videos before I found and purchased this one. I really didn't want to spend over $200 on a bag, but I felt like I should probably splurge, since I will be traveling a lot with it. I am trying to travel as light as possible because I would like to go just one bag so I have the freedom of travelling around without dragging a big carryon bag around. Well, this one is only 1.6lbs, which is lighter than almost all of the expensive backpacks I have seen reviewed. The way it's compartmentalized is perfect. I love the way it has the luggage style inside with plenty of room to pack flat or use packing cubes inside, and then a really nice size pocket besides that for snacks and tech etc, and the outer pocket which has plenty of room for things like folded hats, paperwork, travel cables, clothes lines, etc. (Don't keep passport in there since it's on the outside.) The middle pocket zips all the way around, which I like, so you can open it up as wide as you like (secure the zipper on the TOP of the bag, not the sides, for security) The straps and the back of it are padded and comfy. I haven't tested how waterproof it is and hope I don't have to lol. It is very sturdy cloth (?), though. I like to put pins on my backpacks, and it was hard to get the pin through the fabric. I probably defeated the purpose of the waterproofness by doing that, but that's ok because it was just on the outer pocket, plus, since it was so hard to push them through, I imagine it will be fine. The zippers are SO smooth. I can just pull it open. That's something that's super important to me, because I have a lot of pain in my hands and opening zippers is hard and painful for me. But the zipper also seems very sturdy. I'll be testing it out. I won't be stuffing it full and tight, though. The 80% rule is pretty good. Another good thing about the zippers is that they have holes big enough in the pull to be able to use the tiny biners to lock the zippers together. You could use a small lock if you wanted, too. I like that extra ability for security. Plus, it looks cool. :) Overall, it's a super great value! I'm so glad I found it. It's perfect in every way for me. It will easily carry everything I need for a trip anywhere, for as long as I want. One note: depending on the airline, it might be too large to be a personal item and might need to be put in the overhead bin (or god forbid, gate checked). I will try to get by with it, though! I think it will be a good size for buses in Mexico and not be needed to be thrown under the bus. We'll see and I will report back about these things.

I just received this hybrid backpack/small suitcase and am impressed with its design, quality, and appearance. It looks like it will function well to maximize capacity and efficiency as an airline carry-on. The rectangular shape (rather than tapered at the top like a traditional backpack) creates additional space, and the bag can sit flat on the padded surface to unzip on three sides like a suitcase. The backpack elements of the design include a well padded back and shoulder straps, plus a zippered compartment that opens from the top for easy access to items while in flight. Three smaller zippered compartments on the outside provide handy storage for miscellaneous smaller items. The water bottle pocket seems generously sized. There are other features as well, but the final highlights for me are the sturdy textured fabric and nylon zippers. Seems like a great value; can't wait to use it!

This is a great backpack for long trips where you don't want to check in luggage and need more capacity. I looked at literally 100s of backpacks online, ordered a few and returned them and ultimately decided on this one. My only concern was that it wouldn't meet the United Airline's strict requirements for under the seat, but I had no issues. The backpack itself is well designed with multiple pockets for all your needs. What I really like is that the larger storage section zips upon like a clamshell for easy packing and has a buckled strap to secure your belongings. It also has a lot of zip pockets/storage for small things, including a pocket in the back to secure your passport, a key ring inside to secure you keys, a water bottle holder, a top zip pocket for easy access to your phone or wallet, a passthrough hole for your charger, and a strap to fit over your luggage handle. On a recent trip, I also packed my laptop in it, but it is not designed for a laptop - meaning it doesn't have extra padding or specific laptop compartment. This was not such an issue for me, because I have a padded case for my laptop. I am very pleased with this backpack and look forward to taking it to Europe soon, as I am not checking any bags. If there was one area for improvement it would be to offer the smaller size (the one I purchased) in a greater variety colors.

I had to log into Amazon and give this bag amazing review because I am SO HAPPY. First off, it's made with recycled plastic bottles so helping the planet. Second, it has so many zips and compartments to put stuff in,comes in various colors. I was able to pack 5 days of outfits, 3 pajamas and shirts, toiletries and underwear/lingerie. I still have room for knick knacks and I might even put in my cross body bag. Great value for money. And best of all, the bag is a measurement for a personal item at low cost airlines. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

The PERFECT size for American Airlines, lots of room with the square shape and opening, well made, takes a large water bottle easily with a stretchy and tall side water bottle pocket, lots of pockets, color is just like the photo. I tested with a little water on it and it is slightly water resistant, but you can see after the water initially rolls off it soaks in. I don't think you can Scottsguard it because it's made of plastic water bottles (? so not sure why not waterproof, if true). But, it's so nice for underseat personal item that I'm keeping it and will use a more water resistant day pack once in my location. I took one star off because it says it's waterproof and it's not.
