  • Exactly as described
Item was exactly as advertised. Arrived as kit so needed to assemble. Replaced broken assembly in printer and was back up and running without $50 shipping from OEM. Followed extruder re-assembly instructions from Prusa website.

  • This works identically to the original that shipped with the printer
No issues, no problems, my printer lives again! Follow the disassembly/assembly instructions from Prusa and you will be back up and running in no time!

  • Not exactly what I expected.
Needed this to rebuild the hot end on my FL Sun SR. It's basically the same thing but needed some set screw holes drilled, and the wiring had to be snipped and spliced. I still havent finished setting it back up but so far everything fits up well.

  • Factory replacement hot end kit
This is the second unit I've ordered. My 1st hot end started leaking after a few years of use, but I accidentally bent the heat break when I grabbed the wrong end and tried to turn it too hard. I recommend buying a 1.5 nm handle to correctly tighten the nozzle to the correct torque instead of guessing. It's been a few weeks now and the printer is working awesome... • Wrong unit shipped? Troubleshooting points to this being a 12V unit, not 24V as needed for MK3S
UPDATE: Confirmed. Wrong unit was shipped. I re-ordered and received a second kit with a heater cartridge that tested at 14 Ohms, consistent with a 24V heater cartridge. Great, except it doesn't work. This kit is supposed to have everything (almost) you need to replace the hotend on a Prusa MK3S 3D Printer. (It does not include the PTFE tube, by the way, so save your old one.) Unfortunately, swapping out the hotend on an MK3S requires some disassembly (removing under a dozen screws, and cutting about 4 wire ties), and reassembly. This hotend kit also requires assembly. There's a very helpful YouTube video. Allow a couple of hours for the whole process. After assembling this new hotend, and disassembling and reassembling my printer, things started to go wrong that I've never experienced before. Runaway temperatures, alarms, and nozzle temperatures that fluctuate widely during prints (plus / minus 10 degrees C). And jams! (Probably as a result of the temperature fluctuation.) I rechecked my work, and everything checks out OK. No strangled wires or bad connections. After about 2 days of troublshooting, I came across advice to run Prusa PID calibration. The PID calibration didn't work. Trying a calibration of 210 degrees, the symptoms are that the temperatures runs away past 250 degrees, and the calibration function terminates at run 1 of 5. There's a Prusa Forums thread describing exactly this problem. The first solution was to update the firmware, perform a factory reset, and then try the PID calibration again. Like the OP in the forum, that didn't work for me. The next solutions suggested checking the hardware with an ohmmeter, and describe exactly the problem I'm having with the replacement kit I received: The heater cartridge measures 4 Ohms, not the 14 Ohms specified for the MK3S (24 V). Others here have reported being able to swap out their MK3S hotends with this kit. I'm thinking I got the wrong thing. ... show more

  • Just do not want to risk using Clones
Sometimes, you just want a spare geniune part. I have not problem experimenting with clones, but when it comes to keeping production going, having geniune parts is a must.

  • Not a DROP IN replacement, not assembled and ready to go. Photos and description are misleading!
I got the hot end kit today. Expecting a fully assembled hot end as shown in the photos that I could use to fix my printer. No, not happening. It is all the PARTS to make a hot end with no instructions on HOW to assemble it to make a hot end! I would have ordered straight from Prusa, except they were out of stock and I needed to get my printer up and running. Now I have to find out how to assemble this mess of parts before I can even start repairing my printer. Please update the description as this is not a "DROP IN" replacement. ... show more

  • Doesn't come with PTFE tube
Be aware this is clearly advertised as a KIT and the individual parts are shown on the last photo. If you want something pre-assembled from Prusa or elsewhere be prepared to pay around $80. Although instructions are available on YouTube and Prusa's website, the first set of instructions I found had steps out of order (e.g. the thermistor and heater needs to be installed on the heater block BEFORE installing the nozzle, heater tube, etc.). I assumed a replacement PTFE tube was in the bag of parts shown in the last photo but hidden by the label. Wrong assumption. The kit doesn't come with any and I can't salvage the one from my old hotend so had to order a replacement. In hindsight there may be some logic to this given it is advertised as fitting both MK3 and MK3S which don't use the same length PTFE tube. If it shipped with one of each an inexperienced assembler might choose the wrong one. This puts the onus on the user to use the right tube. I'm still waiting for parts so can't comment on print quality but otherwise it appears to be OEM quality. ... show more
