First of all, I am 66, so I am not looking for any kind of "luminous" finish. This foundation does have a dewy finish or slight glow which brightens my face, making skin look less dull. The foundation goes on very smoothly, nice and creamy. Most importantly, while most foundations do nothing for firmness or lines, this foundation applied over my Misha BB cream looked really good and full, and did not settle in lines. I have difficulty finding the right shade for a medium cool tone, but really like the choices since many foundations do NOT offer an option for medium cool. This was a reasonably priced new product to try. Since I use so many elf products , I thought I would try this. Wasn’t sure if I was getting a matte or a Dewey foundation and it’s really not either. I used elf primer underneath and the foundation did go on pretty well although I did have to build it to get a decent amount of coverage. I did all the things that I do with my other foundations and set it with the same powder. Within two hours, my face felt very greasy, and I already could see separation on the spot of my face that I usually want covered. It happened a couple of times. Don’t know if I am using this product wrong, but I will go back to my elfCamo or other foundations. Maybe I will mix this with some others to get a better result. Been waiting for Ulta to have this in stock and they still don't, so saw it on Amazon and took a chance. I can say I am very impressed....packaging came as not used and sealed. I am 47 yrs old and don't have blemishes/any skin disease (rosacia) and have very minimal age spots and this foundation I think is the best foundation I have ever used, besides Clinique Even Better Glow, but I wanted to get away from anything too glowy and cheaper and this foundation is perfect. Not glowy nor matte, it's in between. It is medium coverage, so if you're looking to hide such blemish issues than maybe it is not for you, but they do say this foundation is buildable, but I didn't use too much at all. So I didn't know which shade to choose at first, so I went to the Elf's direct website and they had a "find your match" section and it told me to get #44, tan cool and it is right on. No oxidizing and stayed put, as long as you use good primer and setting spray, which I use Elf's porelss liquid primer and Urban Decay's All Nighter setting spray, which both are great! I ordered this in #23 Cool Light and it is the perfect shade for my light skin. I tried this in the Fair shades and these were too light on me. It provides beautiful, even coverage. It looks satiny and breathy. It looks great all day and doesn’t melt, even with hot flashes. I love that it is buildable, depending on how much coverage I desire or need. I had seen a couple instagram reviews on this and had to try it out. I choose Tan Neutral 42 and it was a PERFECT match for my summer complexion. I normally wear Cadiz in Nars RL Foundation as well as the Light reflecting foundation. After wearing this elf foundation id say this is a great alternative for both dry and oily skin. It does go on thicker than im used to but once my makeup is done I couldn’t believe how beautiful and natural it photographs 😍 It is light weight and buildable coverage almost as a bbcream consistency and leaves a satin glowy (not slick) finish and for the price I couldn’t be happier.
