I admit this is a good foundation. I'm a hardcore Bodyography foundation user and only bought this one due to my usual foundation being out of stock. I was surprised at how well it applied and was impressed it kept up pretty good throughout my work day, but this foundation has one major flaw, and that is it has fragrance in it. Like, why??? What is the point of adding fragrance to foundation makeup? I don't get it. I've been breaking out with small blemishes all over since starting this foundation, which is has been low-key traumatic for me since I've never dealt with acne in my entire life (I know, poor me *eye roll*). Granted, shame on me for not reading through the ingredient list to see if it contained fragrance, but honestly...I didn't even realize adding fragrance to foundation was a thing. I'm still relatively new to foundation. So. Bottom line: this IS a decent foundation worth checking out, but only if you don't have sensitive skin or are generally not bothered by the smell of fragrance.

It's slightly darker than that same shade I had in a different brand but nothing embarrassingly drastic. Probably my spring shade, between my current winter and darker summer. I feel self-conscious about how cakey it looks TO ME because I use nothing or CC creams on my everyday but it isn't as bad as some. Can definitely tell you're wearing foundation though. I'm combo-oily skin sensitive skin and this doesn't get greasy or break me out though!!

I bought this for a Morticia Addams costume, so the shade "Pearl" is naturally paler than my skintone (that being said, my hands are much more tan than my face, so it isn't too far off from my winter shade). In the photo I've compared the ELF Foundation with my Kat Von D "Lock-It" Foundation in Shade 44 (my usual shade) just for reference. Pearl is a little lighter, of course, but the texture is almost the same. Both have a matte finish, with the KVD finish being a little more satin-y. Some may find the ELF foundation a little drying. Either way, it provides a good, even coverage comparable to my KVD foundation (or maybe a little less), and the bottle has lasted me for a while (though I use it as a concealer since it's lighter than my skintone). For a more pale/gothic look when I do wear the ELF foundation, I tend to also use a white setting powder. It helps prevent the foundation from smudging or wearing off, which it tends to do a bit. If I didn't already have my KVD foundation, I'd use my true shade in this ELF foundation for regular wear!

Let me start with- This foundation has a STRONG smell. I'm not one to dislike scented foundation, but i've never had a foundation with such a strong smell. It almost is so strong, I wonder how good it can be for your face. lol. However, it does apply well, and is sheer, if that is what you like. I like more medium coverage-full, so I mix it with the Catrice True Skin, and it makes my skiin look flawless and sticks ALL day long!!!

I actually really like this foundation. It’s good coverage, and works well. I tend to have skin that’s on the dry side and it looks great on my skin.
