  • easy and works great
The hardest part was removing the stock muffler and even that was not hard. The system fit perfect and sounds great not to quiet and not to loud just right.

  • Missing parts
Took 3 days longer than originally projected to get here, then once I opened the box it was missing the muffler and the tip.

  • Pretty decent exhaust system for the money
The media could not be loaded. Some people have complained about the fit between the pipes on these kits. The kit I recieved fit well and the included clamps would have probably held it all together adequately. I assembled as I installed it under the truck and clamped it together with the included clamps. Then I removed the system in one piece (requires 2 people) and welded it together off of the truck and re-installed minus the clamps. If possible I highly recommend that you weld the kit together. I did not have to expand any parts of the pipes on the kit I recieved to improve the fit. It was okay out of the box. Cons: Only the muffler is stainless steel. Includes cheap generic horse shoe type exhaust clamps. Exhaust is a little loud if sitting in the back seats. Appears to be made in China Pros: My kit fit well Mandrel bent pipes It sounds good Louder than stock but not obnoxious. It can be removed and installed in one piece I will update this with pictures and hopefully a video after I have driven a couple hundred miles. I will be able to provide feedback about highway noise levels/drone at that time. Update: Went on a 500 mile trip with the new exhaust. Observations: Will drone under load (going up hills etc) at highway speeds. It is not awful but it's there. The exhaust noise is louder than stock but completely tolerable if you are sitting in the front seats. The exhaust noise is considerably less tolerable when sitting in the rear seats. I would not have known this had I not had a family member drive while I sat in the back. Not a deal breaker but it will get annoying on long trips. Overall, the exhaust system is okay. It could be a little quieter but it is still worth the price. ... show more

  • Great deal
Easy installation! Fits perfectly and sounds great! Fairly quiet and exactly what I wanted with no drone. Only downside is the clap for the tip doesn't go small enough to clamp down tight. I used a 3 inch stainless bandclamp and it worked great.

  • Not a Quality kit, be prepared to spend extra time and money
Let me start this review by saying that I have been restoring cars and building hot rods for over 40 years as a hobby. My profession was aviation maintenance. I have probably dis-assembled, assembled or customized over 20 automobile exhaust systems in my day. This Dynomax catback exhaust kit is the worst fitting I have ever seen. Individually all of the parts seem well made for the price point. I will tell you up front that unless you plan on welding the muffler on (inlet/outlet) you will have an extremely high probability of exhaust leaks. The gaps between the pipe and the muffler fitment are huge. The cheap clamps provided are not designed to provide a 360 degree crimp on the pipe as there is a gap in the sides. The probable reasons that you do not see more negative reviews are; 1- Previous kits had a tighter fit and this is just a bad production run 2- good enough for me 3- its loud and I like it 4- They cannot hear the leaks due to exhaust tone If you look at the attached photo’s, this muffler to pipe union has a huge gap that has to be closed in order to seal. The photo with the word Dynomax on it is the one that Dynomax sent me (Quality / Engineer / Technical staff) stating that it was within tolerance and would provide a seal. I actually thought they were joking with me until I read their entire email. I will say that the individual I communicated with (email / phone) was very kind and respectful. He was basically tasked to deliver the bad news to me that the company has a low threshold of quality control, and that my 40+ years of wrenching just meant that I was asking too much from them. After several phone calls and emails, Dynomax did offer to; - Pay for getting the system welded, providing I got the cost authorized in advance - Send the kit back, have the pipes expanded, and then ship it back to me - Pay to have the pipes expanded locally, again pending cost authorization. Summary: I ordered the kit and it arrived. I test fitted the kit prior to installation and found the huge gaps in the muffler to pipe connection. I took photos with measurements and provided them to Dynomax. Dynomax in-turn sent me another kit (supposedly test fitted prior to shipment). New kit arrives with same gaps. Now Dynomax says the second kit is within tolerance according to the Tech/Engineer team. That’s when they sent the picture labeled Dynomax. If a pipe to muffler connection has a tolerance of .070 to .090 depending on where you measure, I just do not know what to say. Look at my measurements in the pics. I am not using a cheap caliper either. The muffler ends are approximately .070 too large, and the pipes are under 3.00 by .010 to .030 according to my caliper. This is the second, supposedly test fitted kit! I even mentioned to the responsible parties how this situation could lead to probable exhaust leaks from the gap and type of clamp used. If you look closely at the picture of the connection provided to me by Dynomax, there is the appearance of a gap between the pipe and muffler, as well as possible metal deformation and flaring of the muffler opening. It also appears mushroomed between the clamp and muffler body. In their email they stated that this was a test fit that passed prior to sending me the second, supposedly within tolerance kit. In the end I decided to have the pipes expanded locally at my cost. I actually expanded the pipes a total of .050 and still had looseness. I then ordered the clamps that should come with the kit (Dynomax provides the better clamps with other kits such as the 39311). Look at the Dynomax clamp 33272, or Roadformer 3” lap joint clamp https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08169BC4X?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details I have installed everything from the cheapest Walker exhaust all the way up to very expensive Borla exhaust. This system is the absolute worst. What really shocks me is that the staff at Dynomax defends it and stands by the inferior fitment. They did offer to correct mine, but you might receive what I show in the photos. You have been warned. After expanding the pipes and purchasing better clamps myself, and 2-3 weeks of trying to work with Dynomax, the system once installed does sound good. As for Dynomax engineering / technical / quality control you can be the judge. I expect a tighter fitting pipe to muffler union on a tractor, much less an automobile. When you have a customer who gives feedback with pictures and measurements, and then disregard the “opinion” of that customer, do not expect repeat customers. ... show more

  • Great system, easy install.
I purchased this to replace a failed muffler on my 01 Tahoe, 4WD. I happen to have a lift, but it would be fairly easy to install this in the garage or driveway. The pipes were perfectly bent with the proper hangers in place, it even came with a nice chrome tip. I broke off one of the two bolts at the head pipe but the pressed in bolt was easily punched out and replaced with a grade 8 nut and bolt. All 3 pieces lined up like stock, clamped together with 'U' clamps. The entire install took me less than an hour. I was worried it might be loud, but it's quite docile. The Dynomax system was almost $200 less than a Flowmaster set up. I'm very happy. ... show more

  • Nice mellow sound
I know there are several reviews out there that say "it's barely louder than stock" or "you can't hear it inside"... well let me tell you that is not my experience. The exhaust is louder than stock and you can hear it inside the vehicle. Having cleared that up I will also say the sound is not obnoxious or "loud". At idle it is only slightly louder than stock and at normal cruse speeds you can barely hear it inside. I would definitely buy it again. ... show more

  • Don't expect a good warranty!
Purchased this system in March of 04 and the tail pipe already has a hole in it. I've attempted to work many times with Dynomax/Walker Muffler and they say only the muffler is under warranty, what a waste. The safe and sound warranty not worth much to me, look somewhere else for your tahoe exhaust. Regards, Disappointed ... show more
