    • Excellent Generator for Medium all-electric Home.
Style: 15,000-Watt Tri Fuel
This was bought for natural gas. EVERYTHING comes with the generator: Natural gas hookup, Propane hookup, Heavy duty plugs of all kinds. Oil funnel. I previously had a smaller propane/gas so all the hookup for electrical had been done. The remote starter works! Just like your late model cars - keep it in your pocket! I had my HVAC install the gradual start for my main unit. He was cheaper than buying one! The other unit will be offline as everyone can move downstairs if need be. We were only out 2 and 1/2 days with Helene, many others suffered 7-14 days til power came back on. Ran it full load (yes, HVAC) for 3 1/2 hrs last week as a test and worked like a charm!! This one is definitely louder and I needed some assistance to get the battery hooked up. (I am physically challenged but had excellent helpers) ... show more

    • Never again.
Style: 15,000-Watt Tri Fuel
60 hours of use and will not start. It ran without issue until it didn’t. No one, including the manufacturer, seems to know what the issue is. There’s about a half dozen theories, but as of now, 3 months at a DuroMax “certified” shop and no progress. I purchased this generator based on the reviews and people that I know that have them. They are allegedly very good products. I’m not sure what is worse, the build quality or the total lack of support from the manufacturer. Either way, never again will I purchase this joke of a generator. I may use it to keep my tarps from blowing away when I’m not using them. ... show more

    • No battery charger
Style: 15,000-Watt Tri Fuel
I bought the DuroMax XP15000HXT as a standby generator for my home. I tested it on natural gas with the entire house connected, including the central air conditioning under load, and it handled the load without difficulty. Voltage and frequency remained stable throughout the test. Mechanically and electrically, my initial impression of the generator is very positive. However, I have now found two design decisions that significantly reduce its usefulness as a standby generator. First, there is no dedicated battery-maintainer or charging connection. Unless the generator is run regularly, the starting battery will eventually discharge. Every previous generator I have owned provided at least a connection for a trickle charger or battery maintainer. I ended up purchasing a separate AGM-compatible battery charger/maintainer and wiring in a permanent connection myself. Second, the remote-start receiver automatically goes into a sleep mode after a couple of hours to conserve battery power. DuroMax support confirmed to me that this is normal operation. Once the receiver goes to sleep, the remote will no longer start the generator until the unit is manually awakened. For a generator marketed with remote-start capability and well suited for standby use, this is a poor design choice. If the power goes out several hours after the generator was last used, the remote-start function may be unavailable precisely when it is needed. My experience with customer support also reduced my rating. Responses to my questions were very slow, and it took considerable time to get a clear answer about the remote-start behavior. The generator itself appears powerful, stable, and capable. My concern is not with its ability to produce power, but with unnecessary design decisions involving battery management and remote starting, combined with slow customer support. Those issues are why I rated it three stars rather than higher. ... show more
