For Christmas I got some money and I saw the price for these on Amazon was a lot less than any other place so I got them and I’m so, so happy I did!! They are everything I’d hoped for in a boot! They run a little big and normally I wear a size 8 so I purchased size 7.5 and they fit perfect! The quality is amazing and they’re stiff at first but they break in and conform to your foot, and they’re bad ass lol 😁 I’m a medium width foot and calves, but if you have extra big calves they might be a little tight? I studied before I bought this boot, and I tried many others. One ARIAY was too short, still a good boot.I have many. THE SIZING FOR DURANGO IS ABSOLUTELY CORRECT because it allows the wearer to move and flex his toes. My heel is snug but moves about 1/4 inch as I walk. My toes still dig in to make walking normal for “me.” If it were tighter or smaller it just would not work for me. So depending on what “you” want, sizing down is personal. Slender and narrow may not love this boot. JUSTIN is slender and narrow. I absolutely love this gorgeous piece of leather. Very easy to get in and out of. I immediately bought the orthopedic insole of my choice. This boot requires no breakin. I waterproofed them and I’m so happy with them. I wanted to sleep in them. ... show more

    • Don't think twice, buy these boots!

So I bought a pair of Frye boots (for $180) and when I received them they were too big. I had to return them (no exchanges allowed), and when I went to buy the smaller size, the price of the boots went up to $238! So that's when I did some researching and found these FANTASTIC boots. I bought these for about 100 bucks- what a deal! When I opened up the box I was extremely happy with the boots; I can tell they are very high quality. I bought the Gaucho Distressed Leather and the color is awesome. And they smell sooo good, to boot! (pun intended) What can I say- I am one of those who loves the smell of good leather. DO NOT spend the extra money on Frye, these boots are just as nice- actually I think they're nicer. And, as others have suggested, buy 1/2 size smaller. I was leery but I got the 7 and it fits perfect (I usually wear a 7 1/2 or 8). Plus, my mom grew up in Durango, Mexico, so that makes the boot that much cooler (even though they're made in...China? Okay, a point deduction for that). Anyway, buy the boots, you won't regret it. Happy Holidays! January 14, 2012: Follow-up review...so after a having these boots for about a month, I have worn them a good 10 times or so. As I mentioned, I bought the boot 1/2 - 1 full size smaller than what I usually wear. The boot was still loose in the back when I tried them on but there was a flyer in the boot box explaining that it normal for it to be a little loose and that it should eventually take the shape of your foot and would form a tighter fit after wearing them. Well, unfortunately they have not improved in terms of fit- and I recently got a really bad blister on my heel due to my foot moving around too much. I took them to a shoe repair shop yesterday and they're going to try to address the issue for me, hopefully they can since I love these boots. So I would suggest to consider ordering 1 - 1 1/2 smaller than you usually wear. I think I should have returned them for a 6 1/2 (I typically wear 7 1/2 - 8) unfortunately I thought it would resolve itself. Just something to think about if you order these boots. ... show more

Great boots after a small fix — super cute and comfortable! I’m usually a size 8.5 or 9 in boots since I like to wear thick socks in the winter. Based on the reviews saying these run large, I ordered a size 8 — but they were still a bit too big. The inside has very little to no padding or insole, which made them feel a little big and flat at first. However, I really liked the quality of the exterior and the sole (very sturdy and well-made), so I decided to order some insoles made for Frye boots. After trimming them slightly to fit the toe area, I slipped them in and voila — perfect fit! Now they have great cushioning, and I can wear them comfortably all day. They’re adorable with skirts, dresses, skinny jeans, or even flared jeans. I have smaller calves, and these fit perfectly — probably not ideal for wider calves though. Overall, super cute, great quality, and with a little tweak, they’ve become my favorite boots! ... show more

    • Pleasantly surprised, sizing down worked.
Size: 8.5 Color: Oiled Black
Durango packs their boots well. They came well packaged with the feet stuffed, shaft stays, tissue paper, and the original box inside of another box to protect the boots during shipping. A+ for packaging. These run long. I tried on the 8.5 (I wear 8.5 to 9). They fit width wise, but the boots were to me like banana long in the foot. I tried using an insole to take up the slack. I could actually use a thick cushy insole with arch support and cupped heel; which, then they did fit, but the bones in my foot bulged out though the leather. They are just too long, so to take up the slack using full length thick inserts becomes a problem as when it fits so it does not slide, then it's too tight in the width. I had a size 8 in these years ago in brown, and I had to use a rubber mallet to pound out the sides of the foot. (You take a rubber mallet and bang on the sides of the boot to loosen up the tight spots, it realy works on leather). So while I anticipated a lot of work with a rubber mallet to pound out the sides, I ordered the size 8 in black. What a surprise. They must now make them a bit larger, or the black boots fit a little wider than the brown, but they just fit! I will not have to pound out the sides with a rubber mallet, they fit and look great. I do not want to ruin the interior by dirt or greasy toe stains (ever see a used shoe insert? That is what is left inside your boots if you do not protect the interior with a thin insert). So I opted to protect the inside by adding a very thin Justin square toe insole from a different pair of boots. It is a little snug but is breaking in nicely, and loosening up after 1 day, and I do not have to worry about ruining the interior foot portion, as I can dispose of the thin insert and replace it. Really like the way these look. They have a thin cream colored leather lining, and 1-1/2" slant heel. The thick rubber on the soles and heels seems durable. The shafts are narrower, just under 14" shaft circumference at top of shaft. You can opt to have it stretched a bit. I am grateful to find boots that don't gape a mile wide around my legs and my legs do not look like sticks in a bucket. These could work great for tucking skinny jeans or leggings in, or wearing jeans over them as they are narrow in the shaft and the shaft won't bulge out of your jeans legs. They look good with dresses, shorts, skirts, etc. I do wish Durango would make these in a 12" tall shaft option (like Frye 12R harness boots), but for now I am grateful they look good enough with a 10" shaft. ... show more

    • Shame on you Durango - your quality isn't what it used to be!

One star due to quality. I wailed 10 months to write this review to be accurate. I finally broke down and bought these to replace a pair I had had for 20 years. I finally had to give those up after they became moldy due to a place we lived. I wore these new ones regularly for a couple of months. The quality of these replacements is shameful and they are 2 inches shorter than their predecessor with the same style number. The leather is almost rubbery (it felt fake) and has hardly moved/broken in at all. They fit fine though (I'm a 6.5-7) and there was no break in period which is the only bonus. The harness rings are now PLASTIC which isn't even a connected/solid ring. The silver paint on it is flaking off. The harness itself is too large for the boot so after wearing, it stretched further and now the inside harness connection on each boot has slumped over which makes it stick out awkwardly to the side. There is no way to make it fit the boot properly without taking it to a cobbler to cut/sew. Looking at the back of each boot, the heel block at the point where it connects to the boot itself slants from left to right - the same heel was used on each one (the bottoms are left/right specific though). I am so very disappointed in these.These are clearly now made in China and the quality reflects that. I stuck with Durango since I loved the first pair I had were so awesome and I still have and wear a brown pair from the same generation - being brand loyal is important but the brand has to be loyal to itself too. The seller was excellent and shipped on time - this review doesn't reflect on them in any way. ... show more
