I have a long history with halter fleeces – I used them for my horses for years, and now I use them to cover my dog's harness to protect his sensitive skin – and these are decently fine, and good for the price. They do lose some fluff when they're new, which is why I was vacillating between 4 and 5 stars, but they wear in to be still soft enough and last for a while. If I could give 4.5 stars I think that would be the most accurate assessment. This is my third set of the same brand for O's harness over the last 3 years, so they do the job I need them to and are a price that I don't worry when he gets them wet and dirty on his walks outside. ... show more

Good so far. The side pieces have been on the halter for two weeks during turnout. They have not moved at all. A little rub with a wet cloth keeps them soft.

The horses that I bought these for are all seniors. Their owner leaves on their halters and two of them have lost hair on their noses. These make a big difference. These covers go on easily and really protect the skin. Of course, I would prefer to use real fleece but these are fine and work well.

    • Color is terrible, they are weirdly sized, and the fleece isn't very "fleecy."
I ordered this set because I wanted some extra cushion for my horse's face when we are out on long trail rides. I ride her with a rope halter under her bridle and sometimes she gets a little chafed from where the two meet from additional pressure and friction. I knew when I ordered the set that Tough 1 generally makes low-quality stuff so my expectations were realistic given the price point. However, even my low expectations were disappointed. The material is so cheesy the fuzzy stuff falls out in clumps. The color is not orange, it's more like goldenrod, and the edges where the velcro is sewn on is sharp. Kinda defeats the purpose. Also, the pieces are all different sizes, which is weird since the cheek pieces should at least be the same length. I'm not going to use them on her halter, I'm going to use them as stirrup leather covers until they fall apart. Overall, very disappointing, even for Tough 1. ... show more
