A Durable, No-Nonsense Graph Notebook That Actually Holds Up I go through a lot of graph paper between work notes, planning layouts, sketching ideas, and the occasional math-heavy brainstorming session. This Dunwell 8.5 x 11 graph paper notebook has turned out to be one of those simple products that just quietly does everything right. First, the size is ideal. Full 8.5 x 11 sheets give you plenty of real estate for diagrams, charts, or detailed drawings without feeling cramped. The 1/4" grid (4x4 squares per inch) is dark enough to see clearly but not overpowering, which makes it easy to keep things aligned whether you're plotting data, sketching, or just trying to keep your handwriting organized. The plastic cover is a big plus. It’s sturdy, water-resistant, and holds up well in a backpack or briefcase. I’ve had too many paper-covered notebooks get bent or frayed at the corners — this one avoids that entirely. It feels durable without being bulky. The perforated pages are cleanly done. When you tear one out, it separates neatly without that ragged spiral edge. The fact that the pages are also 3-hole punched is convenient if you like transferring notes into a binder. I don’t always use that feature, but when I do, it saves time. Paper quality is solid. Ink doesn’t bleed through easily, and it holds up well to erasing — important if you’re sketching or doing calculations where you’re correcting frequently. The inner double-sided pocket divider is a thoughtful touch for holding loose papers or handouts. If I had to nitpick, I wouldn’t mind even more pages per notebook at this price point. That said, 100 sheets (200 pages) is still generous for a single-subject spiral, and the overall build quality makes it feel like good value. Probably not the norm, but I like to write in fountain pen on graph paper. I’ve purchased a lot of notebooks for my kids over the years, and sometimes get leftovers for my own use. I don’t recall keeping a single one. Nearly all are fine for pencil and ball point pen writing, but none are good enough for fountain pens. This notebook is different. While the sheets are fairly thin, the smoothness of the paper is great, particularly for fountain pen (medium nib) writing in cursive (block letters are fine, as well). There is some very slight bleed through, at times, but not enough to matter; one can still use both sides. Perf off works well, and the pockets are handy.
