Perfect fit, awesome quality.
Size: 13 X-Wide Color: Green/Grey
I am 215 lbs with hard to fit feet (13 4E) and I love hiking. An injury to my lower leg left me with permanent nerve damage and a challenge to find orthotics and footwear for the past 40 years or so. These boots are amazing in fit and quality. I purchased a pair in May of 2017 and tested them out around town. These are the kind of shoes that when you slip your foot into for the first time you know right away that they are "the ones". Subsequent hikes in the Oregon and Washington Cascades gave me the confidence to take them on treks in the Alps and Himalayas. Carried a twenty pound pack on steep up and downhills are no problem. No blisters ever. The insoles that they came with slip out and I can use my custom orthotics instead. The lacing is quick and logical and allows one to adjust tension for up or down hill. I wear merino wool socks with a thin liner over. A sock company in New England makes the best socks on the planet. Good match for these boots. With several hundred miles of trails on these there is no sign of any wear or degradation. The soles are not overly aggressive but provide excellent grip on rock and dry trails. The tread does not hold dirt or mud and self cleans. On very muddy or slippery trails one may want a boot with more lugs. The waterproofness worked for awhile stepping through water several inches deep but eventually this feature broke down slightly as can be expected with the abuse I gave these on the trails. They are also very good looking and can be worn around town. I really appreciate shoe makers who cater to the ends of the bell curve on foot size. Have been a New Balance fan for years for this reason. Also own New Balance 990 V4. Fantastic shoe that I will review as well. One other thing. I found out that boot laces become imbedded with grime which causes friction through the lace lugs making it difficult to adjust the lace tension. A new pair of laces for about two dollars in a shop in Kathmandu was like having a new set of tires. I washed the old pair and kept them in my pack as a spare. All in all would definitely buy another pair but I don't think I can wear these out. ... show more

Can't recommend enough.
Size: 11 X-Wide Color: Green/Grey
These boots are made of sturdy leather. They feel as though they will last for a long time. I walk on blacktop all day and lately my knees have been getting very sore. I purchased these boots because they are available in a 4E width. They feel just a little wider than most brands, but not a problem as I purchased them for early spring late fall wear and will be using a medium weight wool sock. My feet/knees only feel better when wearing sneakers. They are extremely comfortable. I have a high arch, high instep, 4E toes, with a narrow heel. This is thte first pair of boots/shoes that I have been able to cinch the heel in tight, as most shoes cut in to the top of my foot when cinched down. These boots have a high instep, wide toe box and tight heel area. Usually, my feet are throbbing if I tighten the laces too much, so I am inclined to where my boots loose which when hiking leads to blisters. In the past, blisters have been the better alternative to throbbing feet. We're talking being able to feel my pulse in my knees. I'm using this pair for work and plan to purchase a second pair for hiking this summer. These are a light hiker. They do not have an aggressive tread. I have an old pair of New Balance 1500 series hikers that are more of a light mountaineering boot. Unfortunately they no longer make this boot. I really liked them for summer boulder hopping. I contacted New Balance and this is the best alternative. They are a great boot, just not in the same category as the 1500. I had meniscus surgery last summer and still a little paranoid about my knees, but so far I can wear these boots all day and my knees and feet feel great. ... show more

Fits well, but break it in
Size: 14 X-Wide Color: Green/Grey
The fit is what really makes this boot a standout, but sizing was an issue as other commenters noted. I normally fit into 13 extra wide sneaker and casual shoe. With the Dunham Cloud boot, I went up a size, because I fit more comfortably into a 14 4E over a 13 4E (I ordered both for just such a situation and sent back the unused pair). I found the boot to be cushioned and form fitting in all the right places. The metal eyelets held the shoe laces securely and the waterproofing seemed to function properly in occasional misting--although gaiters are a recommended accessory. Ankle support was adequate and the texture of the boot's sole seemed to assist with stability. I took the boots with me to Peru on a multi-day trek. I walked 9 miles around Lima on day one, but did not break in the boots in any other way. During this time, I noticed the padding on the boot's tongue did seem obtrusive at first, but gradually it became unnoticeable. Once in the Andes mountains, flats and inclines were fine, but after about 8 miles, descents began to cause me pain due to newly formed blisters on the underside of my feet. Day three brought bruised toes and blisters on my toes. The blisters were probably from persistent friction, and the bruises were likely from forward movement of my foot inside the boot. Both could probably have been prevented with the right socks and breaking in the boots beforehand. Bottom line: It is an exceptional find to locate a shoe that is both large & wide. In spite of the issues I experienced, due to my rush to use the boots for my trek, the boot works and fits fine. I will use it for less demanding day hikes until it is broken in. ... show more

Early review: Thumbs up👍👍
Size: 13 Narrow Color: Grey
this reviews probably a little early but I am very happy with them so far. I have a very narrow foot. It is very difficult for me to buy shoes that fit. These came in a B- width, and they fit really well. I can wear in a width and some shoes, so I do not know if they run a little more narrow but they feel great on my feet. They are not too stiff like some hiking boots have had. They seem very durable and well-made. The weird part is you cannot buy them directly from Dunn Hill because they do not have any stock and the size that I needed but I was able to get them directly from Amazon from their online store which I do not quite understand but I am glad I was able to. I like the appearance. They seem to have great traction. They have great toe box protection. They seem like they would function great for both hiking and just as a general "low top" work boot. They come in standard width and extra- wide too, but if you have a narrow foot, you should take a look at these if you can get them in a B-width ... show more

FINALLY! footware that doesn't fall apart apart 6 months of daily and intense using! wow!
Size: 10 Wide Color: Slate
first pair i had, loved so much. bought at discount place, but started to love the look, and the duribility is FINALLY what i have been looking for for decades! uh! you know what i mean! shoes, boots, at least the common price point ones, around $100, were such disappointing JUNK for as long as i can remember. but not these. wow. i am a carpenter. and used these boots every day, working hard, for over 1.5 years before FINALLY the leather tore a small hole on one side, where it connects to the upper rubber. but love em. layers of leather, which IS ACTUALLY waterproof! couldn't believe it. not crazy waterproof, but stepping in and OUT of inches of water, after which i would wait for that little wetness to reach my feet, and it never did. never. nice job! excellent stitching and glues and construction. now, grated this is the first pair of $150ish pair of footware i have ever used, so maybe ALL footware is made this well at this price point. could be. but anyway, THESE boots ARE made very well. AND comfortable. they never "broke down" inside, and really felt supportive even after 1.5 years. BUT, i DO use TWO pairs of insert insoles, or whatever, cause i'm on my feet all day, but still, hell of a boot. BUY from this company. i dont like footware made in china. NEVER had a quality pair of nikes or adidus or other, made from china. dont care about china either way, just came to expect crap. but these boots ARE also made in china, which really blows my mind, good to see a quality product that doesnt fall apart right away thats made in china. ... show more

Poor grip. Good Quality
Size: 13 X-Wide Color: Brown
True to size, well made and great if you have a wide foot. I wear 13 4e. The reason for the 3 star is that you are not going to do any serious hiking in this boot due to the sole not having very good grip. Suitable for graded paths, etc. But hiking on steep slopes, it is hard to get a grip and not slip. I will keep these for my graded type hikes, but am going to have to find another with much better hiking sole for steeper/slippery conditions. ... show more

Best ever!
Size: 9 X-Wide Color: Green/Grey
I can't say enough about how much I love these shoes. I purchased them locally after seeing reviews of both these and the New Balance country walkers, because I was worried about sizing issues. I am a very difficult fit with 7.5 4E feet, orthotics, high instep and more. I have never had a pair of walking or cold weather boots that I could wear comfortably for more than a few hours. If it wasn't the rubbing below my little toe, it was irritating my ankle or hurting my instep. I bought these shoes yesterday morning and haven't taken them off yet except, reluctantly, to get in bed. They are incredibly comfortable. The only adjustment I made was substituting a flat white Dr. Scholl's insole for the one provided. I hadn't bought Dunhams in a while because of fit problems. The sizing is right, maybe a drop short, but they quickly started to conform to my foot, after some sole flexing, and feel great. Nice wide foot box. The laces are very adjustable and the ankle height is perfect. They keep my feet nice and warm on these winter days and the bottom looks to be completely waterproof, but no tests to this point. Best of all, these shoes are very good looking, a benefit that usually does not come in my size. Tomorrow, I am throwing out the several pair of my "3 hour max" shoes and boots. These are my new favorites and I am grateful to Dunham for providing me with style, fit and protection all in one shoe. THREE WEEK UPDATE: I have now had these boots for 3 weeks of a bad NY winter. At one point, I wore them for 10 out of 11 days. So here is an update. They are still the most comfortable boots I have ever owned and I love them. Several people have commented on how good looking they are. When does that happen to me? However you should know two things. First, my feet still get cold on the really cold days, but never wet. That's a good thing. Second, is that they still are a bit short, but that hasn't affected my overall comfort. My big toe sometimes touches the top, and I might consider a bigger size that would accommodate thicker socks too. But my fear is that I'll get that wrong size rubbing next to my little toe that I always seem to get when I size up. So, I'm sticking with these and very happy. ONE YEAR UPDATE: As we moved into a new season, I decided to bite the bullet and try a larger size. Good choice. These fit just as well and are a bit longer. I am very happy, and confident that I will have these for several seasons. ... show more

Ok shoe for wide feet but issue with durability and manufacturer support.
Size: 11 X-Wide Color: Brown
So far these have been great! I ordered the X-Wide which translates to a 4E. There is plenty of room in the toe box both width and height. I got these a couple of days before going on a 2 week trip to Ireland. They were comfortable from the beginning with very little break in time. I always have such are hard time with show, not only do I have a wide foot but also thick, especially in the arch area. I could never wear a slip on shoe, it's that bad. They are not a heavy boot and feel very comfortable when walking/hiking. They can be a little slippery on smooth wet surfaces. Any how, the only thing to see now is how durable they are. The above was written last year, but apparently never submitted. So the above pair lasted about a year, but shortly after constant wear, they developed a squeak in the right shoe. I recently purchased another pair 03/29/2026 and they too have a pronounced squeak in the right shoe. This is on all surfaces, so it's not the rubble on the floor, but probably a support inside the sole. I was going to try to remedy it, but this pair has started coming apart. I reached out to Rockport and they were no help, since I purchased on Amazon. I can't recommend these any more nor would I purchase again. ... show more
