  • Immersive D&D experience that’s easy to learn and fun to replay
Bedlam in Neverwinter is a well-designed dungeon-crawl board game that does a great job capturing the spirit of Dungeons & Dragons while remaining accessible to players who may not be familiar with tabletop RPGs. The gameplay is straightforward to learn, but still offers enough strategy and variation to keep it interesting across multiple sessions. The components are high quality, from the sturdy game pieces to the clear, well-illustrated cards and board elements. The artwork and theme are immersive and help bring the Neverwinter setting to life without feeling overwhelming. Each playthrough feels slightly different, which adds to the replay value. What really stands out is how smoothly the game flows. Turns are intuitive, downtime between players is minimal, and the cooperative mechanics encourage teamwork without becoming overly complex. It works well for both casual game nights and more dedicated board-game sessions. Overall, this is an excellent choice for D&D fans and non-fans alike. It delivers a complete experience right out of the box and offers strong replayability, making it a great addition to any board game collection. ... show more

  • Great game! Lots of fun
This game was a lot of fun! I played it with my wife and son over Christmas - neither of them has ever played D&D, but they enjoyed the game a lot. It is not overly complex, but has story to carry things along. We all had a great time with it. It IS one of those games that takes many hours to play, but there three "Acts" which serve as natural break points, so it is flexible in that regard. Be aware, however, that it might be difficult to play this game more than once, since there are puzzles that must be solved along the way; you will have solved many of the puzzles the first time through, so the challenge won't be quite the same the next time you play. Overall, though, this is really a lot of fun. ... show more

  • More of this, PLEASE!
I'm a long-time tabletop roleplaying gamer, but this was my first Fifth Edition product. I have strenuously avoided 5th edition and much prefer the D&D vibe of the 1980's or so. Have heard awful things about 5th edition. So this was a very pleasant surprise. I bought it because my wife likes puzzle-solving, not RPG's and this seemed a good hybrid. Well, it was. Just enough roleplaying, with simplified mechanics, to make me feel like I did an RPG quest and had a character - and the puzzles were excellent and the plot and puzzles, together, advanced through a very clever use of numbered cards. Graphics are great, components are attractive, and the rules go the extra mile to add a bit of roleplaying flair - without requiring players to make up a lot of backstory or do other things casual roleplayers don't care for. One minor irritation which falls in line with what I've heard about fifth edition: all the character cards and all of the plastic miniatures, portray females. Why?! Of course as an old-time gamer I have plenty of miniatures. And plotlines (at least the first two - we have one episode to go) aren't noticably corrupted by "Wokeness." (And I notice.) Very good value for three evenings of fun, with a game we'll pass on to friends with hearty recommendations after we complete it. Hasbro, keep up the great work here! (But do remember some of us want to pretend to fight monsters without pretending to be girls.) ... show more

  • Fun and Light Adventure
This game surprised me. I’ve played escape room type games before, but this one is a little different, and the D&D theme works really well here. Each player plays a different fantasy character with a different set of skills. The players choose a character card, then they also choose a profession card and combine the 2 cards to create their character. It’s best to pick combinations that make your adventuring party most well rounded. The game starts you off with some bit of narrative, then you begin exploring. To explore, on a player’s turn, they simply move their pawn to a numbered location on the modular game board, then reveal the matching numbered card from this big adventure deck. The cards offer all kinds of surprises, dangers, puzzles and clues to help you solve the overarching plot. The cards are often illustrated with images that sometimes interact with other card images to provide valuable escape information. Some things such as lockpicking, combat or spellcasting, will require a skill test that is enhanced if you have a skill that matches the test being performed. Skill tests are resolved using a D&D iconic 20 sided die, and trying to meet or beat a target number. A 6 sided die is also rolled and added to your total if you have the specified skill. Beating enemies will naturally provide useful loot. Combat seems a little easy so far, and I expect it will get more tense later. The puzzles are interesting, and fun to solve and offer more variety than I expected. I recommend this. ... show more

  • Lots of fun--highly recommended!
Great way to spend a day. It's a one-time thing, but you don't have to rip up any cards or anything, so it's easy enough to pack it back up and pass it on to a friend. Combat is simple and moves quickly, but still gives you a little bit of that D&D feel. The puzzles were pretty good, and none was all that difficult. But only a couple were so easy as to feel kind of silly. All in all, my group had a ton of fun and were bummed to find out that there aren't any more D&D ones like this. ... show more

  • Highly Recommend
This game is awesome. My girlfriend and I just finished act 2 of 3 and are having a great time with it. She hadn’t played dnd type games before , but this feels like an escape room game with a combat element and requires zero prior knowledge about dnd. The game is super scalable to any size group, even solo, but it has helped to have at least two heads for some of the puzzles. It’s not really replayable, but it could be packed back up and passed along to friends. ... show more

  • Excellent game
This game was better than I could have imagined. It was a dungeons and dragons campaign for people who dont have a lot of prep time or are able to do super long campaigns. It was challenging and loads of fun. I can't recommend this product enough and will be searching for more just like this in the future, but I expect multiple play throughs and alternate paths will keep this one interesting for awhile. ... show more

  • Really fun date night idea
Me and my husband loved playing this, slight downside is that it can only be played once as you will know all the answers to the clues after, but it will be moved through our friendship group. Great game if you are a beginner to escape the room type games, with the added whimsy of beginner dnd
